What?! No stovetop cooking?? Hope repairs are swiftly completed for you. Is it worth getting a single-burner hot plate as a stop-gap?
I had a flood in my kitchen on Saturday afternoon and the water has all been cleaned up. The only concern is that a lot of water ran down into the inner workings of the stove/oven and for safety reasons I am not interested in using the stove top (or oven) at the moment. I called the super when the flood happened and he shut off the water to the pipe that was leaking and he said he would contact the property manager. I also filled out a work order so I hope I don’t have to wait too long… The hot plate is a really good idea. I don’t have one but if a replacement stove isn’t resolved within the next couple of days I may ask on my local buy nothing group if someone has one that I can borrow.
It’s the thought that counts! ![]()
So sorry you’re dealing with this ![]()
Thanks. I’m just feeling frustrated more than anything. I live in an apartment building and they have backup fridges and stoves in case someone’s fridge or stove dies and needs to be replaced. The property manager used to come up for inspection right away to confirm that the appliance is in fact broken then the super would come up with a replacement appliance. It would have been dealt with within 48 hours. But our building was sold a couple of years ago and communication from the new property management company is non existent. We have an online portal to submit service requests so once is a request is made we have to sit and wait and wait and wait… We have a landlord tenant board to resolve disputes but there is a three month backlog so if I submit a request with them my issue will probably be resolved before a hearing is scheduled. I chose to rent instead of buy so if something breaks I can call the super but working with an ineffective property management company isn’t what I bargained for.
Yeah, that sucks. Hope it gets resolved PRONTO! ![]()

A full English breakfast! What’s under the eggs?
Homemade rosti, my hash browns are still in R&D X)
The rosti looks good. And it’s a potato dish and that’s all that counts.
that one is straight out of the oven so quite soft - normally i let them cool, and then put in the fridge to set (i don’t use egg to bind them), and then they can be fried when needed.
The correct way to apply clotted cream and jam!

Thank you! Cream first, then jam. Always. Not out of any affinity to anything or anywhere, but it’s easier to spread both that way.
