What's for breakfast? (2025)

I’m going to go back to bagel baking here directly. I went at it for several years, but could never nail it. I’ve had a few years to lick my wounds, and I’m ready to try again.

How about this one?

No. Too much sugar for me. It’s pretty, though.

But it is garnished with mint …

As always, your photos look delicious, but they would be even better if you told us what they show!

Put mint on your lox and now we’re talkin’.

Lured by this video/recipes list by a cook I like, Julia Pacheco, I baked half recipes of oatmeal blueberry bites and also ham/egg bites for breakfast today (and intended for future ones, too). Despite using oiled silicon muffin pans and adding extra baking time both items were slightly underdone and clung to their muffin-wells. Edible, but not photogenic.

An indulgent treat: chicken and waffles. Sourdough whole-wheat waffles. Spicy boneless fried chicken thighs. Canadian maple syrup. Garden blueberries.

Looks great. My blueberry didn’t produce this year. I bought some wild blueberries in North Bay ON last week, and they were phenomenal.

Peanut butter and banana oatmeal today. It’s overcast and I felt like something warm. No pic. Oatmeal isn’t photogenic.

Still in Bellevue, WA . A nice-looking bakery has a whole bunch of seasonal offerings so I ordered the marionberry scone .

Looks nice, but unremarkable flavor and poor texture.

Hash using leftovers from last nights dinner. Steak, bacon & potatoes. I added onion and mini bell pepper, over easy egg.

My breakfast this morning was from Vic’s Waffle House before I headed up to Vermont for some antiquing. This is not a diner ftom the outside, but definitely one on the inside: Red leatherette stool seating at the counter: plenty of booths and tables to accommodate the hungry. Waitstaff have been there for years, they call you hon, and are fast and can dance around a crowded diner with full plates with ease…just what you need at a proper diner.

Because of the long drive, I didn’t want to stuff myself with waffles, so I went with 2 pieces of French toast, real maple syrup, and crispy bacon. Freshly squeezed OJ and a cuppa cawfee.

More blueberry pancakes with Canadian maple syrup. There was gazpacho.
