What's for breakfast? (2025)

It’s (almost) a new year. How are you starting your day?

Happy New Year. Inspired by recent omelet and fridge-clearing breakfast posts: (reheated) cheesy grits beside a 1.5 egg omelet (that used up a lingering half-egg) filled with some of last night’s crab/cheese dip.

Since I now have one medication I’m required to take “30 minutes before the 1st meal of the day”, and I didn’t have any English muffins defrosted, and I didn’t want eggs (although bacon is sounding good right now!), I made a bowl of oatmeal: Quaker Oats Old-Fashioned 5 minute cook style.

No 'nanas, so I drizzled with some maple syrup, lightly sprinkled with some cinnamon, and called it good.

And no pic, because a bowl of oatmeal is rarely visually appealing.

This is my first breakfast of 2025. Clementine appetizer followed by a spinach omelette which only broke a little bit.

A breakfast casserole with pecans, rum-soaked cherries and apples.

5 eggs, cream, milk, butter, cinnamon, vanilla, brown sugar, pecans
Based on this, but more eggs and less liquid, and less bread.

My first poached egg from the MW pod was overcooked, as I went with the 45 sec recommendation over the 30. Easily solved next time (she says ).

At least there was no way for the whites to go flying everywhere, and I didn’t lose my ish for once. My PIC was very appreciative

I put mine in boiling water, but yeah, the timing is tricky.

This poaching pod is specifically for MW use. It made the fastest HBE ever.

You should make weird shaped deviled eggs.

Happy New Year! Chips and dip, and a piece of Époisses for dessert.

All my deviled eggs are weird shaped.

I love Mandarin and Cara Cara season.

Yes! We order ours from California, and have gone through about 25 pounds thus far (with 5 lbs. more to go). Yesterday the orchard owners put out a last-call for this year, so that’s probably it for us.
