It’s one of the benefits of adulting.
You can have pizza for breakfast.
Bologna??
yessir
Very adult of you
Went to a market in the deep west, despite massive thunderstorms WITH HAIL having been forecast for 2pm.
After dropping off my knife at the sharpening truck, we scooped out the food truck situash. Dunno about youse, but we didn’t quite feel like “Mystery Chicken.”
Thankfully, our favorite fish griller was there, so we ordered a steelhead trout filet & a trout filet, then popped by The Frying Dutchman, a new fries truck that caught our eye.
While my PIC waited for the fries I went back to the fish dude’s stand and secured a seat at a table. A few minutes later the fish dude discovered me & complained that he’d been yelling “Natalie” for at least 8 times now. I picked up our fish & said that might explain why I didn’t hear him, since that’s not my name Always such a kronch, that guy
My steelhead trout was a bit overdone & coulda used some salt – I’ll stick to mackerel from now on.
Also not sure we ‘needed’ that cone o’ fries (albeit with the appropriate amount of mayo), since the fish comes with tater salad.
We grabbed two pounds of white asparagus & a few hand-picked Sieglinde potatoes for our dinner tonight for a total of 9€ & made our way home.
Still no hail, 3 hours after the apocalypse was supposed to happen……
Would you share that ‘recipe’? It looks awesome!
What is the green garnish that came with your fish? Everything looks very tasy despite the overcooked fish.
I first noticed this recipe when a reference was posted by fellow HO user @LulusMom1 (with thanks!). It’s from Melissa Clark’s book Dinner in One. I don’t have the book, but found the recipe in a post on reddit here. It seems accurate - I followed it exactly, and it came out great.
There’s Swabian potato salad with arugula, and a small blob of seaweed salad.
No beer?
Yesterday was a Buddhist holiday.
To show respect, had a dry day.
Only a single day of reverent abstinence.
Back to our regular scheduled program.
Herbed crepes with chives and tarragon. Cold-smoked pink salmon. Cream cheese. Colorful garden greens in vinaigrette.
Every time you share a picture of these crepes, I remember that I still want to eat them and I still haven’t made them
Lol. This was a fresh batch, I always make alot and keep a stash in the freezer. Doesn’t take up much room since they lay flat, and makes for an easy snack down the road.
ETA: I thought about using them for your version of gozleme, since we’re having that tomorrow. I think I’ll be sticking with dough, however.
My PIC grabbed our favorite bread at the market yesterday while I was out of town, and it featured heavily for breakfast today. Roschera, Taleggio, rosemary ham, finocchiona, smoked country ham, SBEs… I’ll never tire of this
