Appreciate it @Presunto
We made grilled sesame-oil brushed salmon with ramps, miso-glazed hakurei turnips, carrots, corn, and peas in a sauce of melted butter, orange muscat vinegar, and soy sauce.
Chicken thighs marinated in olive oil, lots of fresh lemon juice, s/p, a drizzle of honey, and dried rosemary and thyme. Roasted at 400° until done.
Sides were simple: steamed Yukon Gold potatoes seasoned with s/p and butter, and steamed green beans with toasted almonds.
There was wine.
Hi @PHREDDY,
It’s time for you to come back. Your sefl-imposed site isolation should be over.
yeah, he googled and found this recipe:

it’s really delicious.
good news! hopefully there’s more. hugs to your wife.
Merguez meatloaf. Half housemade merguez, half ground beef, bound with pork rinds and a couple of eggs, plus sauteed onion, bell pepper and cabbage (thanks to @greygarious for the cabbage tip, makes for fabulously moist meatloaf). Had some ricotta filling from my calzones leftover so I added shredded pepper jack to it and used it to fill the meatloaf, then topped it with leftover tomato sauce. Delightfully spicy, cheesy and oozy. Roasted Brussels with tahini lemon yogurt alongside.
omg that sounds aMAYzing!
Long day at work today and despite offering to cook, was overruled. Pizza was requested. We ordered from a nearby pizzeria that I had only been to once before (despite living within 10 minutes of it for the last 24 years). And that one time, I had a sub. Go figure.
Anyway, we got two pies so there would be leftovers. One with “everything” and another half plain, half garlic. Both were excellent. The everything pie used sweet cherry peppers instead of the usual green bell peppers (which I was expecting). Not being a huge fan of green peppers, these were a welcome sight and the acidity added a nice component. The sausage was a little too crumbly and hard for my liking but no big deal. The garlic on the other pie (no pic), was basically halved cloves which they placed under the cheese. Never seen it done this way, but delicious nonetheless.
No pics, but we had takeout Italian tonight. Imo, the best food we’ve ordered in so far.
Pizza - Neapolitan, small pies but not soggy. Lasagne - homey and delicious. Arugula salad - fantastic. Small family-owned place doing family-style meals meant to serve 2-4 (salad, pasta, and 2 small pizzas), so we did 2 sets of those and a couple of bottles of wine so they could make a bit of money because the meals seemed like too good of a deal.
Good to see lots of people picking up.
Meals probably fed 3-4 normal-eating folks comfortably, Or 2 hungry boys . SiB asked me (looking at giant portion of lasagna) - where is yours?
The lasagna was amazing. Didn’t realize sib likes lasagna so much, have to add it to the home menu soon.
Happy Sunday night all, and a good week ahead!
A short time before the pandemic hoarding really kicked into overdrive here, my DW and I stopped in our local Aldi to get some produce…
First thing I noticed that day was the frozen foods chest freezers were empty. Or nearly so. Leaning deep into the freezer, I snatched two lonely boxes of frozen Mussels. Made those up tonight. Breaded up some button mushrooms and sauteed with onions as a go-with.
I apologize for all the pics; afternoon lighting in our kitchen was too good to bypass some nice shots.
We agreed, wolfing these Mussels down, we’ll buy them again.
BF in the kitchen today. first, fries brunch. he used TWO WHOLE IDAHOS. So full. My bloody mary was made with Bluecoat gin, and that’s how it’s gonna be from now on.
then for dinner, he followed a Chef John (local guy, on youtube) recipe for hot Italian sausage, cannellini beans (from scratch) and greens (we had arugula & spinach) soup. with his toasted homemade bread, and a little fresh mozz. It was really just an excuse to eat his bread for dinner. Excellent, but i shall have nothing but dust salads and water next week.
I have had the sausage from this German master. First time having his beef from his own select cattle. Rib eye with meyer lemons. Side of zucchini and beans not shown. Cheers .
Soondubu jjigae using a BCD kit, with white rice. Added fried mushrooms, mixed seafood from the freezer, some kimchi, scallion, and an egg.
So glad to hear that your MIL is improving. Hugs to you all.
I hope that you and your wife are able to take good care of yourselves during this time. It’s good to see that you have sustenance covered, as beautifully as you always do with your food.
Lovely salmon …
Wow!
What is the second a photo of?
