Thinking about this topic again today and randomly decided to check the Thermoworks site for the combo digital thermometer and infrared temp reader I love and use almost daily. They had discontinued it for some time but it’s back on their site now. Not cheap but really handy. The temp part is obvious. The infrared feature I use to check skillet/oven temps and have also used it to check temps coming out on our HVAC vents.

that is tempting.
I think they had quality problems when it was first offered several years ago. Mine went bad pretty quickly and they replaced it. Shortly after that it disappeared from their website and I haven’t checked it in quite a while. They’re a very solid company so I’d have no qualms about buying one now

One time I got it in my head that I needed a Bird’s Beak knife.
After I got it I thought I’d been foolish, probably didn’t really need it. Guess what? I now love it. I don’t like to eat apple and pear skins and this cuts the skin away easily and cores them. I love water chestnuts in my turkey dressing and they are a pain to peel … this knife makes it easier.
