Pretty, but does it make good espresso?
Yes, but for thousands less you could have a Synesso, a Slayer, or a La Marzocco and get incomparable espresso, and for less than a tenth the price of one of those you could get an old Elektra microcasa a leva like I did. It is simple enough that even I can care for it. It makes spectacularly good espresso and, for breakfast, has incredible steam. Plus, it has a nifty golden eagle on top. It is probably the easiest lever machine to work consistently. The Arduino won’t fit under my cabinets. Of course, if I had a ristorante Italiano it would be practically required.
Do you happen to know a certain Mr. Hanks?
No.
But he knows me.
Mine did too. Hence the purchase of metal steak plates. I rarely use them now, if I’m using the small convection oven I warm plates on top of it, or if not whatever burner is hot after cooking.
ETA: I should mention I have a glass top stove.
They do. I use the microwave to heat them - about 1:30 for a stack of two plates does the trick in my (medium-wattage) microwave.
I’ve used this method. But (in my MWOs at least), I can’t warm my fav oval plates. Then there’s the issue of taking whatever appliance out of other use.
This $50 Costco option appeals for these reasons, plus keeping plated food and other things, e.g., melted butter, warm. I think the High setting will also simmer.
We do not have a microwave and often eat in stages. Warm plates and keeping food warm would be a good thing for us.
There you go! Espresso machine!
I once bought a single, small, fresh truffle for $55. It was good, but not at its freshest, considering the trek from Europe.
At our favorite Italian restaurant years ago the waiter asked if we would like some fresh white truffle shaved over our pasta. Really enjoyed it, but we were surprised by the bill……$40+ for a few slices each for the two of us, and this was over 20 years ago!
I actually (and somewhat foolishly) bought a truffle shaver a few years back at a big kitchen store liquidation. I’ve never used it for truffles, but will if I ever splurge on a truffle. I’d even take it to Italy.
I have used it for shaving chocolate and calluses…
A proofing box that can fit at least a half sheet pan. I’ve seen some interesting variations using an inkbird temperature controller and a heat mat, so I might give that a go.
Is this big enough? https://brisker.com/collections/electric-crispers/products/brisker
If it is, let me know. I have one somewhere in storage.
I have a penchant for such things. The egg topper is also fun but also limited in its usefulness.
I do use my “clacker” enough to have justified the purchase.
Not quite deep enough. Really neat product, though. Thanks!
Garnish for risotto?
It couldn’t be any worse than the wood cellulose “Parmesan”.
And don’t be fooled when your waiter offers you a little corn…
That was my thought. I squelched it.
