I totally understand building relationships with the folks who help us with stuff. Since the early seventies I have dedicated Saturday mornings to cleaning the house with the Rolling Stones cranked up. Let it Bleed is my favorite, but Exile is pretty good, too.
I’m a late riser and wake up slowly - I would probably kill you. My husband of 45 years is a slob. Neither one of us likes housework, and we live with 2 Australian Shepherds who shed constantly. We have had longterm housecleaners in the past. Hoping to find someone again soon.
There was a pale green version of this stove that I passed on, and still regret it. Allegedly, it’d once been Alice Waters’.
Very cool.
I’ve recently seen 2 pictures of neighborhood houses/coops with Chambers ranges/ovens, both 70 yrs old and stunning. Beautiful!
ETA - I’m happy with my induction range … plus, no gas hook up anyway.
Something that wasn’t on my radar went Full UAP yesterday… at Costco of all places.
Since mothballing my 1905 Monarch woodstove, I’ve badly missed having its warming cabinets and tip-down trivets. Cold plates suck, it turns out.
So, at Costco, I spied an electric warming surface. Three set temperatures, large enough for two stacks of dinner plates or 4 smallish saucepans. $49.
Going back tomorrow.
I have something like this somewhere in a closet.
I guess it’s a heating pad for plates. I had a warming tray years ago; never thought about using it for plates.
Would you share a photo if you do pick one up? Thanks!
Here you go.
I put the stack of plates into the Smart Oven at 130 or 140F. It only takes a few minutes. Sometimes I even remember to put the salad plates and forks in the fridge.
Thank you …I might have to put this on my list.
YW. It looks like it would tip up and store pretty efficiently.
My only concern is my shortage of counterspace. But it should also work on a sideboard or dumbwaiter.
The shallow bottom drawer of our new Bosch gas range can be a warming drawer but the heat can be turned off and we use it to store glass lids for our pots and pans so they don’t break when mingled with the metal ones in a separate, larger drawer. I never considered using it to heat plates. I don’t chill plates or utensils, either, heathen that I am.
We are probably ok on the counter space. I looked at similar on Amazon (through the HO link of course) and there were a few there of different sizes but I think this might be a better price for size.
Thanks again…warm dishes are important in New England!
When we reno’d the kitchen this summer we looked for a range with a warming drawer that we liked in our price range but that didn’t work out.
We have a air fryer on the range we did buy and use that to warm things. But the warming tray would have more uses for us.
We’ve lived in New England since 1979. It’s never been on my radar to warm our dishes! I’ve only encountered them in restaurants when servers tell me “Be careful, it’s hot”.
Not on mine either, till I met my DH, he hates cold plates. And I have come to appreciate warm plates.
This.
Almost there.
Wow, zow. Two forks up doesn’t do it. That is beyond cool.
“choose quantity”. . Lemme check under the sofa cushions for spare change …
Would you accept gently broken in? I doubt Pope Benedict is using his.
