I love this, too, So sweet and cute! I am so sorry for your loss. Your sister was loved and cherished.

One of my younger brothers died a year ago. on September 21. Another, even younger brother died on October 9. almost a year ago. So I’m a year in. For me, the mourning evolves, and continues. I was 4.5 and 7 years old when they were born.

Finding childhood photos of me with them is so poignant. Helps process grief by feeling it more acutely, both at the same time.

Sending golden light to you.

Hello friends I am posting here because I am in denial and am not ready for October :upside_down_face: I am now planning a quiet weekend since I’ve been quite busy lately so I only have one activity planned and it’s an afternoon tea tomorrow. The highlight of this past week was book club last Monday. We had a lively discussion of “Martyr” by Kaveh Akbar then we moved onto discussing books in general. I am really out of the loop on books since my two book review journals ceased publication years ago. I am going to have to find another source of finding out what’s going on in the publication industry. The group was very welcoming and I look forward to joining them in another meetup. My beer and spaghetti and meatballs were also very good  This is what is on tap for this week:

Today: I had to pick up a few missing ingredients for dishes this week , including feta cheese which will go in tonight’s salad so I bought my take out lunch from the grocery store. I am now eating a turkey, bacon, mozzarella sandwich and potato chips. Dinner tonight will be a garden fresh corn salad.

Saturday: Off to an afternoon tea. I will have a repeat of last night’s salad for dinner tonight.

Sunday: Shrimp with green beans and chili sauce from one of my cookbooks (“Simply Thai” by Wandee Young).

Monday: I’m hoping to go to a movie at the library since they will be showing “Prince of the City” based on a book by the same name by Robert Daly. I will heat up leftover peanut soup for dinner when I get home from the movies.

Tuesday: Ginger bok choy soup with noodles.

Wednesday: Pork with broccoli stirfry (from one of my Anne Lindsay cookbooks).

Thursday: Pasta with broccoli sauce from my Moosewood cookbook. The “sauce” is basically stirfried veggies including broccoli, peppers and red onions.

Have a nice week everyone.

Tuesday, I made Spanish pork meatballs with a tomato sauce.

Wednesday, I made the chicken thigh piccata and mash I had planned for Tuesday.

Thursday, I made a Persian lamb and apricot stew / tagine that I will make again, and saffron dill basmati.

the Arctic Char looked better than the Trout today, so here is the new plan.

Slow Cooked Bone In Lamb Shank in Tomato Sauce, Rice, Green Beans. Meat was ridiculously tender. Green beans had so much flavor. Even the rice was delightful.

Loukoumades😍 (honey soaked Greek donuts topped with chopped walnuts and cinnamon).

Had to lighten up the photos a bit since I took them in our poorly lit living room but, regardless, the food was tops.

Hi, all! Cooking for 4 in Chattanooga, still mostly in October :-). We’ve been out and about with my sister and BIL, but I still have hopes to do some cooking

Breakfast: Yeasted coffee cake from the Joy of Cooking
Saturday, September 27: Gnocchi (made from instant potatoes!) with tomato-basil sauce; cauliflower salad, both from Cook’s Country
Sunday: Volunteering at IronMan a good chunk of the day but hope to get home to make pizza and maybe a special dessert. We went apple picking, so rationally I would make something apple-y, but I before that happened, I had planned to make Ghanian crêpes with Milo ice cream. We’ll see who wins on this one.
Monday: Butternut squash soup and biscuits
Tuesday-Thursday: We’re back down to 2 and will scrounge from the many leftovers in the fridge for a few days
Friday: Cauliflower steaks with “XO sauce” from Family
Hope everyone has a good week! Happy cooking!

That looks about 200% better than what we had at our Greek festival!

Thinking of you and your still re-building community around the first anniversary of Helene. I hope the feds come around to giving the financial aid so needed to re build.
