Trader Joe's 2024: YEA/NAY/MEH

I love these.

NAY TJ’s, NAY I say! Why oh why did you discontinue last autumn’s sweet and savory honey mustard spatchcocked chicken??? I phoned yesterday to ask if it was in yet, and wasgiven the tragic news. I wish I had copied down the ingredients on the one I had last year. I hope Wegmans honey mustard marinade/baste will come close.

I loved the crunchy curls. The papadum chips are a viable alternative, and I do think it’s the seeds (are they cumin seeds?) that have the slight dirt taste.

The Crunchy Curls are a regular snack purchase for us.

When I see the Dark Russet potato chips I always grab a bag (same when I see Utz dark russet at Harris Teeter).

I suspect it’s the flavor of urad dal (matpe beans) that people are describing, not the cumin. (Label just says “lentils” but that was the predominant flavor to me.)

Thanks so much! I can duplicate it pretty closely and use just thighs or breasts, my favorite parts.

My PIC made the ‘mistake’ of bringing a bag of these home. He already knew well enough to not buy those dark chocolate pistachio toffees :star_struck:

I love them. Must hide in the pad somewhere or I’ll finish them stat.

PSA that the “seasonal” baking stuff has shown up if you need to stock up – pie crust, puff pastry, GF pie crust (@truman), and more.

Also PSA that there are obvious supply issues.

For those of us who don’t like to deep fry at home (paging @LulusMom1) they have a new-to-me fried calamari in the freezer section. I will pick some up next time.

This almond paste looked like it wasn’t going to last past the one box that made it to the shelves so I picked up a few for a friend who bakes pignoli cookies every year:

YAY for these little crunchy mochi rice snacks. And at only. $1.99, they felt like a bargain!

Thanks for this. Based on the box shape and weight, this is either made by or is a dupe for Odense. I’ll try to look for it soon, as almond paste is a favorite around here.

Thanks for the tip - I picked up two. Now to decide what to do with them!

I’ll find the pignoli recipe my friend uses — she made a triple batch last year to give away, and they were so delicious!
