Top Chef Season 22

I think I remember that.

So far I like this season too - nothing too gimmicky in terms of the challenges. I’m surprised how many team challenges there are this early in the season though. Makes it extra hard to learn more about each contestant and how they cook. I was a little ambivalent about the pine cone jam (love the smell, but taste…?) but I found the little pine cones to adorable. I wonder if that has to be made with a specific type of fir tree, or if any young, still tender pine cones would work.

Edit: Know nothing about this vendor, but just sharing that looks like we can try that jam if we’re really curious!

They made a few of my favorite things!

I was a huge TC fan from Season 1, but my fandom faded over the years. I went from rabid fan, to just watching the first few episodes of a season, to not watching the last few seasons at all.

So I’m glad I decided to tune in again for this Canada season. I’m really enjoying it so far–even its ā€œgimmicksā€ haven’t been too intrusive on the cooking. And I really like Kristen as host.

And now I have an odd craving for a Jamaican patty.

Same - I loved it up through the Boston season when Mei Lin won. But I was doing the recaps for CH, and was burnt out. Continued to watch but not recap up through Kentucky, and started to watch All-Stars 2 in 2020 just as Covid hit, but stopped watching most TV altogether. Just haven’t gotten back in to it since then.

But I do like to read here on occasion as to how it’s going in the current season.

Yes! Good times! That’s what brought me to HO.

I loved those recaps and the thousands of replies it seemed to generate every week. But I remember how thorough they were, so I can see how it would lead to burn out. Maybe you can start back with this season. The great thing now is you can stream the next day and enjoy it without commercials and then right on to LCK.

Not as good as @LindaWhit , but it will have to do!

Fun . . . but not as good as I remember the old CH recaps being

Only because of the Pause and Back buttons on my remote so I could get the name the cheftesrants gave to their QF and Elimination round dishes and details of fights, mess-ups, conversations, intrigue. I remember staying up until midnight when the episodes went for 75 to 90 minutes so I could post the recap that night.

Good times.

Annnnd that’s a No from me, Dawg.

I guess I can’t blame you . . . you must have some serious TC fatigue\trauma.

Yes. I really did not enjoy the last few seasons. Last season was way too gimmicky. Food artwork? Foos architecture. Nope. So far this season is much better.

I’m so glad I didn’t watch and so have no idea what these terms mean.

I seem to remember on challenge where they went to see homes built by Frank Lloyed Wright and they had to duplicate his style in their food. And another where they had to cook ā€œchaosā€ cuisine. So pretentious. I barely paid attention.

I have zero interest in dining on chaos (or houses for that matter). Hopefully this current season stays on track–I like when I find myself actually wanting to eat the food they prepare. I’m still thinking of a Jamaican patty.

I’m so bummed about the last LCK though. Really?? The one person I was most interested in continuing on…

I’m reframing into a positive thing for him.

I am curious the various LCK contestant scenarios. Remember the year several previous contestants battled on and off the main stage…I think…?

It would be interesting to know why. Did he not know that competitions are competitive :confounded:
