Oh well. There’s plenty of time to perfect it. What made the romaine wrong?

I love that site. So far every recipe I’ve made from it was a keeper

There weren’t many tomatoes at the El Cerrito farmer’s market today, and the ones they had weren’t quite ripe (yellow around the stem end, which had been turned down so you wouldn’t notice them). It must be the “chilly” summer we’re having here. There are good heirlooms at the greengrocer, most likely from Mexico or maybe southern California.

It was just a tad past its prime.

BT sandwich on milk bread from Lost Bread here in Philadelphia. Applewood smoked bacon from Birchrun Hills Farm, tomato from either Blooming Glen or Hay Day Farm! Really good today!

It’s a tough choice between the homadama and the milk bread!

I made Sicilian-style stuffed tomatoes last night, which are made with breadcrumbs, capers and cheese. I liked them. I used 8 medium tomatoes.

My DCs like rice-stuffed tomatoes a little more. I am tired of my Greek yemista .

I might try this recipe

Dill, parsley, mushrooms, fenugreek, ground coriander, mozzarella, rice in these

A French provençal style breadcrumb stuffed tomato

Cheese and breadcrumb Ligurian style.

Bharwan Tamatar / Bharwa Tamatar/!vegetarian Indian stuffed tomatoes from Northern India

Stuffed Tomatoes in Tomato Gravy / also called Stuffed Tomatoes in Gravy (Indian stuffed tomatoes in sauce)

This looks good. I will attempt it this week

This was my deck harvest. :::Sigh::: Started from a Rutgers tomato plant, unless someone switched out the plant tags at the nursery. Because these weren’t anything like what I was expecting in both size and taste.

I’ve only really had one decent year growing tomatoes on my deck, and this year definitely wasn’t it. I should just stick with herbs, as the thyme, basil, rosemary, and chives are going gangbusters. Oh well.

A tomato curry inspired by Meera Sodha, using homegrown tomatoes

I added some dried apricots for fruity tang as I had no tamarind paste on hand. I subbed yellow mustard seeds for black mustard seeds. Omitted the curry leaves, as I couldn’t find my tin. Omitted the green hot peppers since one DC has to avoid them. I used ground Kashmiri red pepper. I omitted the coconut milk.

I will follow it carefully another time when I have all the ingredients on hand.
