That mayo, be still my heart!
Dukes!
I make the tomato pie filling in a pyrex dish, and top with the mayo cheese mixture.
I guess it becomes more of a gratin, and it doesn’t slice. It’s still delicious.
I don’t bother making a crust unless I’m making it for company.
Good idea! This will be tomato pie for one, for sure!
I realized I had a small springform pan from my Instant pot cheesecake plans that never came to fruition, so I may try the springform one in the link, but making something like a gratin in a small baking dish makes just as much sense.
Yes, it does! Many of my tomato salads are tomato, olive oil, vinegar, and optional basil/dill/oregano/pepper/salt/sugar
Nice one! I’ve harvested most of my first batch of fruits and I’m going to have a lull for a while due to hot weather - the latest batch of blossoms mostly just dried up and fell off. But I did harvest a gorgeous 13.5 oz Black Krim today. And Early Girl, bless her, is still loaded with mediocre fruit, LOL.
Of course!
The best BLT I had this summer: Wegmans and Aldi thick sliced bacon, red slicing tomatoes, iceberg, Duke’s on Japanese milk bread. Oh, my.
Beautiful! Which one is that?
Purple Cherokee again. That’s my only slicer.
My Ultra Sweet tomatoes are producing maybe 2 red tomatoes a week, as are my Glamour.
The flavour has been quite good. I’m not great at keeping them separate once I get home, to compare the tastes.
The Ultra Sweet and Glamour have been less blemished than usual this year.
My first plant, a variety I didn’t write down, had really delicious big tomatoes, but many were catfaced due to the weather in May. A few had a touch of blossom end rot.
I pulled out that first plant last week because the leaves looked diseased.
I pulled out a Montreal tomato I grew from seed because its leaves had become diseased as well. My tomatoes almost always develop blight by Aug 20th so I’m trying to keep a watch on any diseased plants this year.
Crossing my fingers for you!
Here are my Ultra Sweets and Glamours. I reuse the baskets from the store or farmers’ market.
Here’s my breakfast, bacon, tomato, mayo, and egg on toasted 12 grain.
BEE ELL TEE.
2 heirlooms, Aldi Appleton thick sliced bacon, iceberg, Duke’s, Japanese milk bread.
I could do this all summer long…
I think I have to make Woks of Life Milk Bread again.
I think you do, too
I might even make my PIC bake some, since I shared my source with far too many peeps, and I’m afraid I shot myself in the foot by doing so
It photographed ok, but it flunked as a sandwich. The green tomatoes were hard and flavorless and the romaine was the wrong lettuce. I am remorseful.
