That’s a good idea. If my DH weren’t so turned off by canned fish I’d do the same! The kiddo and I like it. Maybe I’ll grab a can of Trader Joe’s lightly smoked canned salmon to put in there.
ETA: My power-outage stash currently has shelf-stable Indian lentil dishes in pouches from Trader Joe’s, TJ’s bagged papadums, a box of instant couscous, Amy’s canned soups, and creamy mac and cheese with the squeeze cheese. And MREs the National Guard and Red Cross distributed after Hurricane Helene.
We also usually have canned chicken on hand. One of the first meals I made after Helene was pasta e fagioli using canned beans. I almost always have that kind of stuff around in my very, very full pantry.
We are hoping to avoid a power outage next time, if possible, thanks to our solar panels and battery. At the very least, we can use our car as a generator for the freezer end fridge again.
