There are a number of scattered threads for the area, but I couldn’t figure out which of them fit my lobster roll, so here it is
This is from Weymouth Lobster Pound inside Previte’s, because Norwell Jiffy Lube is apparently never open when I need a lobster roll (the conspiracy).
2 sizes available — regular (0.25lb) and jumbo (0.4lb). Always jumbo! Always delicious! (And I don’t doubt she puts in 0.5lb every time.)

Green Harbor Lobster Pound in Marshfield has one of my favorite lobster rolls. I do not believe they are open for the season yet.

That’s the place I want to try if I can ever convince B to venture all the way to the South Shore.

Linking some prior threads for specific south shore towns:
I noticed several chinatown spots are also in Quincy now - Winsor and China Pearl are the ones I recognized. Wondering if there are other (better) choices in the area given the demographics.
Looking for weekday dim sum pre and/or post thanksgiving, but also to have in mind for some other weekend.
Thanks!
The Herald just ran a piece yesterday on the dining scene in Quincy, including mentions of the Quincy Food Truck festival, and Barbara Lynch’s new upscale casual Italian project:
I am not near Quincy so I am there not nearly as often as I like. How do folks like the spots mentioned in the article?
I’m thinking Le Madeline might be fun, but I’m not sure what my aunt will make of it (or Pho So).
So I’m looking for some other choices to offer her. Doesn’t have to be fancy, but nice setting and delicious food would be a winning combination.
Any ethnicity.
Thank you!
So, on a whim, I packed MrsJimbob and the fam down to World’s End Reservation in Hingham to tromp around and check out an unexpected English-looking park dropped on the South Shore coast. We loved it, and on the way back, I shopped to my heart’s content at Kam Man. But I’m thinking that the next time we go back, I need to plan out lunch. In this time of quarantine, we’d be looking for take-out.
So: looking for a good seafood place. Ideally a seafood shack that doesn’t deep fry everything be…
A nice long weekend of wandering from the north shore around the west and finally to the south.
Started in Gloucester at Tonno for a fabulous happy hour (on food, I was reminded it’s illegal in MA to discount booze ) — several rounds of $1 oysters, excellent grilled octopus, white anchovy pinxtos, tuna tartare tacos, and mussels.

Dinner later at Lobsta Land was surprisingly good food for a restaurant with such a cheesy name. Full of locals on a week…
Any recent recs, especially in Hull/Nantasket?
@GretchenS , you’ve spoken in the past of Jake’s, Alma Nove and a bit about The Bloomy Rind. Are they still solid? We might make a trip to the area later in August, delta-variant willing. We’ll probably take a cooler of ham, salami, cheese, bread, etc., and an ample supply of wine, so we are looking mainly for dinner options. We may only want to do takeout, but if we do eat at a restaurant it will have to be one that serves outdoors.
We’ve given up on the reopening of China Pearl in Boston and I read a rather scathing review of their Quincy outpost. We’re eager to explore good dim sum in Quincy and welcome your suggestions. Where should we go? What should we get? And finally, what’s up with China Pearl? We’re chicken feet and tripe kinda people. Thanks in advance!

It’s a nice day trip from town, particularly before the summer. You can park at the lobster pound, pick up your order and walk up to Green Harbor Beach to enjoy the food and the beach.

As a local, they are pretty good. But at $40 a pop (fries extra), it really is an once in a while thing…
My choice is sitting by Brant Rock with my Mae’s sandwich and a sour cherry lemonade and fighting off the birds while you eat.

$40 a pop
Beach inflation?
The jumbos in Weymouth & Norwell are under $30, and the “regular” (still a very respectable portion of lobster) are under $20.
The jumbos at Green Harbor is $55 or so last year. But there’s no shortage of customers in the summer, so clearly the pricing works for enough people.
I do like picking up live lobsters when they are on sale at the local fish markets and make my own. I find that 4 lobsters makes at least 3 stuffed rolls and plenty of leftover pieces to throw into my congee.

Yeah, I can get $40-60 lobster rolls in nyc, the Hamptons, and the Jersey shore, so I stay away from those

Could double down and make the congee with lobster stock!
