Ordered in canoli for a visit from Sud forno. While not as fresh filled as Eataly went well.
Good Behaviour ice cream (Queen W, Westmoreland and Gerrard E) and Death in Venice
Gelato (Dundas W) are worth trying if youâll be in town a few more days.
Demetreâs is a chain dessert cafĂ© thatâs been around a long time (since 1989!) I am glad to hear you enjoy their Scooped line. I havenât tried it yet. I wasnât a fan of their desserts or ice cream 10 years ago.
I havenât tried their Scooped line of ice cream yet. I understand Demetreâs Scooped ice cream is also sold by the tub at some grocery stores.
Poor soul!! Who would have thought the famous and historical â Hudson Bay â trade mark would end up dressing a Croissant?!!
Hahaha
Close but the colours of that rainbow croissant are Pride Month rainbow colours, not a Hudson Bay Blanket rainbow colours! Thereâs no Blue in the Bay pattern.
The Bay used to use their colours on foods for marketing. I had a bag of Hudson Bay popcorn, different flavours layered to make the stripes, when I was a kid.
Yikes on those croissants. I get what they were doing, but itâs just not a good look on a croissant.
Good intentions but sadly doesnât look appetizing.
Pride pastries are a thing. These are from Instagram.
The closest Iâve gotten are sugar cookies I made topped with rainbow sprinkles one year.
Picked up a rhubarb scone from dark horse (dear grain sells there) for a guest coming over who enjoys rhubarb. Personally I think itâs just the better looking cousin of celery and doesnât belong in dessert Also got hazelnut shortbread from sudforno will report back after trying. Also got a care package from someone who visited Paris recently surprisingly nothing I canât get that would be of similar level so far and that includes shortbread from Laduree!
Rhubarb is certainly polarizing.
I love it.
I know my many ppl hate it.
I get it though. I canât stand grapefruit, and I dislike most banana desserts, coconut desserts, and orange desserts. I also dislike croissants.
More for people that like those things. LOL
You should try the rhubarb au pain from le Cafe at four seasons then. I have had repeat requests to pick those up after trying them
I brought a rhubarb and lemon curd pastry from Cafe Belem last weekend, for my dining companions.
I grow my own rhubarb, so I end up baking with it at home from May until the end of July.
I donât eat pain au choc/ chocalatines / other filled croissants because I canât tolerate the croissant dough.
Ummm, that doesnât look appealing at all to me
I admit, I am a sucker for pink cakes and colourful pastries, and novelty pastries, so I like looking at photos of brightly coloured pastries on Instagram. I custom ordered a pink strawberry layer cake for my birthday this year. The cake batter was pink as was the icing. The cake was way too sweet. I ate a very thin slice. Over a few days we ate a quarter of the cake and I froze the rest. It will eventually be discarded in the green bin. LOL
I donât eat croissants, so I wouldnât be eating this, regardless! Many croissants are beautiful to me, but not appetizing.
This one is clearly a novelty.
I donât mind the colourful aspect but itâs the creamy goo in the middle which seems a bit ick. I guess itâs a special edition croissant. I am not a huge fan of croissants either - the satisfaction isnât so great to be worth the calories.
June is Pride month for the LGBTQ community in Canada and the States. The rainbow theme goes with Pride. Lots of rainbow sprinkled and striped baked goods this time of year in parts of Canada and the States.
Oh, itâs the same here in June as well - but not as many rainbow products evident in shops.
