Recommended Desserts Toronto & GTA

On the topic of rainbow-themed baked goods, these are available at Italian bakeries in NYC, NY State and NJ year-round. They aren’t easy to find in Toronto.

In that case… Pickering Farmers Market welcomed Peshy’s Bakery this year. She’s baking up Guyanese treats and snacks. I must have bought out half her stuff. This one might be worth a road trip.

A visit to Yorkdale isn’t complete without a trip to Laduree. Spotted this biscuit box. Hmmm I thought Roselle Holiday set was pricey though I think I have a feeling I will end up picking it up as gift soon

For people who like sablé cookies, Bomou sells little packets. I tried the coconut sablés. Nice and delicate. This was my first time visiting the location at Yonge and MacPherson, 2 blocks south of Harvest Wagon and the other 5 Thieves.
Bomou also has a pistachio croissant, for people who like those. The young man working was fluent in Farsi, and greeted the people behind me in Farsi.

I bought an almond croissant for my dining companion. (Bottom right of the photo)

Reporting back on the raspberry matcha from Le Cafe. Went very well and was well liked (chocolatine was also admired for the beautiful finish)

This is from the guests who are visiting. Suggested Tatin bakehouse in Oakville as they are staying in the area. Went very well and these folks have higher expectations coming from Montreal area

Had the cookies delivery for guests coming over so went for the go to spot neo coffee bar. Matcha is good as always. Not in pic were the chocolate and sugar free vegan.
Curious I tried the sugar free vegan hmmm not for me for are it’s like dried up cork loaded with raisins (raisins which I don’t mind and enjoy at times) though maybe that’s how they are supposed to be? I recall enjoying the cashew cookies from good earth but this definitely not for me.
Dark chocolate was very good apparently.

Have you found decent ones in Toronto? This New Yorker misses them so much…

I’ve never seen them in Toronto, but I haven’t really looked for them at the old school Italian bakeries where most of the Italian community has moved, which isn’t close to downtown. I think of them as more of an Italian American, and especially NY thing.
