Except you know, with the cuteness of Pikachu
I was thinking of more like a general reaction to the post without a formal reply (kind of like a ‘like’ - but in this case “oooohhh” or ‘blech’).
I’m still not sure that works.
I’m on another forum using this software and it is configurable. They’ve got 12 possible reactions to choose from, and this does make it (usually) pretty easy to convey a quick thought without cluttering the thread with so many replies that are little more than an acknowledgement of one sort or another.
Heart
Laughing at it
Sad about it
Angry about it
Eyeroll
Thinking about it
Dart/bull’s-eye
Shocked by it
Party Hat
Sending a hug
Sick face
Clownish
That would be grand. I’m all for it. The knife & fork symbol doesn’t convey all that much in terms of a reaction, but not every reaction warrants a comment, either.
I add it to my shrimp and eggplant pizza
Actually, heck no.
A long time ago, I dated an Aussie woman who used to dip her pepperoni slices in ranch dressing. Blech … but I say that after having tried it. I don’t like my pizza turning into soup.
Years later, while staying in some standard issue strip-mall and chain food U.S. motel, I accidentally got a Papa John’s pie which used ranch as the base (as opposed to tomato, I hope).
That was as emetic an experience as that time I had warm cucumber juice.
I treat ranch dressing kinda like mayonnaise these days. I’m not entirely opposed to it, but I’ve had some bad meals (or in the case of mayo, bad encounters in Japanese convenience stores) that make me never buy/ask for it.
From Eater: ranch-flavored lip balm!
I may have to yuck that … yum?
I’m not that big a fan…

As I said to the person who first made me aware of this, I tried the Van Leeuwen ranch ice cream flavor, and I think my job is done.
I really like homemade ranch and Hidden Valley powdered seasoning (I add it to all kinds of things, especially soups, stews, and braises). But I can’t stand the shelf-stable prepared dressing at all… It’s sour, oily, and gross IMO.
This refrigerated one by Chef W. Clisso is very, very good. All his dressings I’ve tried are. https://chefgwclisso.com/buy-our-dressings-now/ols/products/mountain-ranch
They might be the only bottled dressings I like.
I like some of Brianna’s other bottled dressings, but I’m not much of a Ranch person. I bought Brianna’s Ranch once.
I’d expect a Stonewall Kitchen Ranch to be good. https://www.stonewallkitchen.com/bacon-ranch-dressing-141132.html
I find the texture and smell of shelf-stable dressing so off-putting. Guess I’m in the minority! I grew up with it, though. I remember the first time I tried Good Seasons it felt like a revelation!
Their horseradish aioli is pricey but very good.
I get that.
I grew up with oil and vinegar.
It was a treat to visit my aunt in Pittsburgh. With 8 kids, they always had 3 or 4 different bottled dressings in the fridge at all times (Wishbone or Kraft) , and they’d be out on the table at lunch and dinner.
I mostly buy Renée’s, a Canadian brand that’s refrigerated, and looks like Marie’s or Ken’s dressings.
