Product Recalls and Warnings

Had a pound of unopened Cal-Organic in the fridge. Tossed.

Now, Tom’s of Maine (Colgate-Palmolive since 2006) has found several of their products have been made with bacteria contaminated water.

Here’s a running list of all Costco recalls.

It’s fairly common to manifest within a few hours for most bacterial food poisoning. Viruses like norovirus can take a day or three to get roaring.

Blame it on the carton printing vendor?

But… anyway, I get that regs are regs, but is there anyone in Texas with a dairy allergy who doesn’t realize butter comes from diary?

Not food but you put it in your mouth. I use this product but have to change now. It use to be a very good product before Colgate bought it . After that it got watery and wasn’t the same. Mostly it didn’t assault your palette like the weirdly sweet and nasty mainstream brands. Now it’s contaminated by black mold.

I visited Tom’s of Maine HQ in 1999 as a tour guide/conductor/interpreter/driver for a group of 3 students and a professor from Ogaki Women’s University of Gifu. Japan. The group was studying environmental issues.

I escorted the group from the point where they entered the US in San Francisco and then to a university in Berea, OH (a suburb of Cleveland), then to an activist organization in New York City, a factory tour of Ben & Jerry’s in Burlington, VT and then to Tom’s of Maine (via a flight to Boston where I drove them to Maine).

Every place we visited was interesting and our hosts were welcoming and informative. It saddens me that Ben & Jerry’s is now part of the colossal Unilever empire and that Tom’s of Maine is part of Colgate. I’m sure the group would be just as saddened if not more.
