New Jersey Coronavirus/Covid19 Local Restaurant Specials

They are taking a two week break (last I read), though I wonder why since when I picked up from there last month, there were so many takeout orders she was having a hard time looking for the right one!

We had some outstanding takeout from Ariane’s Kitchen and Bar plus some outstanding dessert from Betty’s Bakers in Clifton. I found them on Instagram. Below is a link to the details and pictures.

We will try again later this week. I really hope they reopen!

I didn’t know he read the New Jersey China Buffet thread.

Was supposed to see him at RCMH in April. This was pushed to July, but I don’t see that happening.

Although more known for his Hot Pocket Skit I think his Skit about vacationing at Disney is hilarious. Link is below.

I’ve been a fan for a loooooong time. The man is just plain FUNNY!

I’ve heard that their mussels are good.

He’s been great on CBS Sunday Morning every week during the quarantine.

We had some excellent takeout from Il Nido for my actual birthday. It was worth the 2 hour round trip. We finally had some nice weather to dine al fresco on the deck after 2 rainy days in a row. The deck is starting to shape up.

Not bad when you consider each option serves 4-5 people. However, I think most who have been there for a reception would agree that food quality (while not bad) falls under the “standard generic catering hall fare” category.

I think now in addition to the usual food porn in this site, we’ve now begin with deck porn!! I’m all for it!

I’ve never been to the actual hall, but have had food that they catered for offsite and though it was really good. Granted it was just usual basic Italian normal fare, so maybe that’s their lane, but def above Basic run of the mill stuff like say a McCloones from what I remember.

The next time you see an overpriced takeout from a local restaurant and you’re not sure if it’s worth it, keep this 3 course for $75 menu from Daniel Boulud (Daniel is one of the most expensive restaurants in NYC) in mind:

I mean you do get free focaccia bread though…

Damn–that’s a good deal! Then again, I spent $75 for the Easter special from Sami’s Mediterranean and it was also 3 courses – Fattoush salad, lamb tagine with more couscous than anyone could need, and baklava. At least 6 servings of the entree, and 4 of each of the others. I doubt anyone will beat that deal in or out of a pandemic!
