For those of you who may have corned beef on your menus for St. Patrick’s Day, a breakfast sandwich can be delicious way to use some of that corned beef. Here’s my husband’s takeout breakfast from a local café. My appetite is no match for this, so our deal is that I get to take a big bite. ![]()
Coffee Diem
It’s Våffeldagen!
Who’s having waffles for breakfast (or brunch) today?
Happy Greek Independence Day!
Celebrating with Souvlaki and Greek Omelettes at a small town Greeky Spoon for lunch today.
Same (almost). Veal souvlaki “plater”. Then 2 scoops of pistachio gelato next door.
So many people everywhere, parades in different districts earlier. All the archaeological sites are closed today so after some walking I am now hiding in my hotel room.
Nowruz is coming up next Friday, and the NYT has a bunch of recipes to make ![]()

Our favourite Mumbai street food restaurant usually runs a monthly tasting menu featuring regional cuisines in India. This month it reflects the city’s Parsi community (folk who emigrated from Persia centuries back to escape persecution from the then newly popular Islam). It’s a really good spin as one of the two owners is originally from Iran but now a UK citizen (she still has lots of family in Tehran, including parents, so I’m sending her lots of good vibes for their safety)
Happy International Ice Cream Day!

Of course, almost every day is ice cream day @casa lingua, and so we already ‘celebrated’ a day early by finishing my PIC’s delectable toasted coconut ice cream last night.
@ieatalotoficecream — how are YOU celebrating this high holiday? ![]()
Next Friday, just in time for the end of Ramadan on Thursday.
Yes. This coming Friday.

Oh wow, I had no idea! Sadly, I’ve been mostly avoiding dairy, not by choice, for a few weeks now. I’ll have to make up for lost time soon and celebrate belatedly!
Happy Nowruz to everyone celebrating.

I stopped by our local Persian market and picked up some pastries to celebrate Nowruz. Pistachio baklava, walnut baklava, pistachio “triangle”, kadaifi.
Turks refer to that triangle baklava as Carrot baklava, because of the shape, no carrots are harmed!
Happy National Cheesesteak Day for my Philly peeps! TOFTT, won’t ya?
Happy National Cocktail Day! I won’t be celebrating as I’m taking a booze break. Bad timing, as usual ![]()
Lastly, happy National Chocolate Covered Raisin Day! Yeah, that’s a thing, apparently.
