I slept with a laces-removed running shoe on the broken foot to avoid bedclothes damage while I slept, because I didn’t have a splint or wrap. The orthopedic surgeon told me that the least amount of restriction combined with the most amount of movement of other parts would lead to the fastest healing. So I complied. .
Thankfully I didn’t need any cast, splints, etc. There is nothing you can really do for broken toes other than keeping your foot up. I am missing out on some favourite Christmas traditions but I must admit I’m enjoying the extra time for reading. I always seem to be rushing somewhere so the forced rest is good.
Joining the salmon parade with the usual accompaniments…cream cheese, capers, dill, pickled red onions.
Dessert was a slice of Nigella’s Guinness Stout Cake, delicious, made by one of my granddaughters, extra delicious!
I love a good salmon parade and would participate with my gravlax on a seeded wasa with mustard sauce — alas, I am on the road again and have to make do with salad
Today’s lunch was a riff on a wedge salad. I used cabbage instead of iceberg because that’s what I had and no bacon because it was in the freezer and would have never thawed in time for lunch.
