Late night snacks....

I tried IF for a few days, bc I can generally hold off on eating for quite a bit in the day. But then it dawned on me that I’d have to forgo the 1/2 & 1/2 in my morning coffee. So, that’s out.

The recipe is very easy. Just heat the milk and oil, then stir everything together. This is not a delicate, finicky dough that needs to be babied.

I once worked with a guy — his desk was right next to mine — who’d pull out a bottle, curse (in a foreign language) take a swig, put it back, and continue on …

Not gonna lie, that is currently the roughest part of my transition. I was never a big breakfast eater, and not eating a meal until noon or later is effortless. I cannot stand black coffee, and not having a bit of dairy in coffee means no coffee for me. I do enjoy tea, and when I’ve traveled abroad where coffee want early available in the mornings, I have been ok. The tea or hot water in the morning is so far tolerable, but the coffee remains tempting. I’ve only been at this for about 2 weeks; maybe it’ll get better.

The no snacks part after 8 or 8:30pm though… Not too bad on week nights. Was rough in the weekend. :sob:

I concur. I like homemade chips and homemade salsa. Tostitos and some store salsa just don’t do it. Go fresh like your favorite Mexiresto.

I suffer GERD, also. Tomatoes can set me off, too. I use ginger, star anise, cuachalalate and bay leaf tea to treat it and I can eat almost anything, just not a lot at once.

These were my snack tonight.

I like scoops and bite-sized Tostitos. I don’t fry my own chips.

I like pico de gallo and fresh salsas, but I don’t make my own very often.

I have too many other things on my plate.

One local indie grocer makes a good 7 layer dip, so I buy that as a treat. Almost as good as homemade.

Those look really good

They are good, but these are my favourite store-bought lately.

Tate’s (the chocolate chip and macadamia white chocolate)

Island Bakery’s white chocolate lemon and the chocolate ginger

Tonight’s snack was Hungarian and German salami, followed by a couple handfuls of chocolate-covered peanuts.

Those Tate’s cookies are delicious. The tiny chocolate chips are in the vending machine at my job.
I’ve never seen the Island Bakery brand here in the US… but I will look for it. Seems like a specialty shop might have them.

Do you like stroopwaffels?

These I can get at Walmart and many supermarkets. I put them on top of the hot coffee cup to soften. Mmmmm

I like Stroopwafels. I live in a part of Canada with a lot of Dutch immigrants, so they’re pretty common! There’s a bakery in Norwich, Ontario that supplies a lot of local grocery stores, and some places sell the imported ones.

There are mini Stroopwafels as well as some flavour variations, as well.

They even have gluten-free Stroopwafels for celiacs.

Island Bakery might be sold at shops that specialize in British or specifically Scottish goods.

Not bad advice.

I get cartons of the bags of Tate’s little bitty chocolate chip cookies and leave them out in a basket for Those Who Pass Through. They’re popular.

We don’t have the tiny Tate’s in Canada, as far as I know. Just the 12 packs , either regular or gluten-free. The prices vary a bit. They’re often $8.99 Cdn at the regular grocery store chain Metro, so I stock up when they drop to $6.99 Cdn. They were on sale for $6.99 Cdn at Farm Boy last week.

We all need that installation in our kitchens, maybe. :joy:

Yes. The big reefer at the beach house usually stores nonperishables over the winter. This spring I found a full box of the Costco stroopwaffels–like 6 nonsealed stacks. Back in they went until last week.

Guess what? They were in As New condition after about a year. I’m still trying to understand how this could be.

Had this very late last night, or more precisely this early morning.

Maybe this belongs in the breakfast thread.
