Ketchups and Mustards and any other condiments you love

Never looked at the ingredients. MSG doesn’t hurt me head nor feelings. Just like it.

Completely agree

I’ve been enjoying my Sir Kensington ketchup, over four years in the fridge now. It’s still delicious, and I’m not dead yet.

No surprise.

2020 was a good vintage.

That’s how things are evolving, sadly. We’re losing classics to cheaper to make more $. Live off the name but not the flavor. I’m not a big ketchup guy, but when an Italian friend from Napoli came to visit, he LOVED Heinz. Glad they haven’t flipped yet.

Huh?

Wha? Weird he liked Heinz ketchup? I know I gave him crap for it. He loved it on NC hot dogs, which I immediately advised him is blasphemy in certain circles. I also added “hey, it’s okay, what the hell would an Italian know about food?” He liked that.

Why were you replying to me with your response.

Surely @DaBadger isn’t the first person to hit reply to the last comment vs. the thread since the inception of this site.

Thought you asked me “huh?”

I don’t know what the hell. Sorry.

Color me confused!
I had no idea VW made ketchup.

Right there with ya! @linguafood - ever tried it? (Because yeah - I go right to the only German I “know” on this food board! )

I did not know that, nor have I ever seen it anywhere.

, , , , and , , , ,

it’s not really anything an Ami would recognize as “catsup” / ketchup" / Heinz #???

invented / served as a side to ‘curry wurst’

I’ve eaten a lot of German company cafeteria lunches . . . curry wurst has not been a big thing in my “experiences”

curry wurst is a bit ‘hugely undefined’ so taste for such varies from the North all the way to the South Pole.

not had/tasted the VW brand - but my bet is that is absolutely nothing like ‘American Ketchup’ - good, bad, other . . . just different.

DW was into ‘a new car’ earlier - went to the local VW dealer - encountered the most - hands down nadda’ any question about it - the most worstest most obnoxious ‘salesperson’ comma ever. must have had a breakfast currywurst with VW tomato based ‘something’ . . . the VW mid-size SUV had a lot of pluses - all totally trashed/negated by the obnoxioius salesperson.
she opted to just keep her 2011 CRV than have to deal with that…

As footballseason gets into conference play, football food gets important. My fave is brats on lightly toasted rolls. Simmer the brats in beer with sliced onion. Grill them over a wood fire. Mix Heinz ketchup, Roland Dijon, and McCormick’s curry powder for the topping.

I’ve never heard of their “legendary” currywurst, either.

Perhaps equally legendary to so many “world famous” mom & pop joints stateside.

“Legendary” doesn’t always mean ‘good’!

Shouldn’t it be ‘infamous,’ then?

I’m not particularly active on it, but I’ve very recently remade my IG account (same username as HO) to entirely focus on condiments.

But for those who are much more familiar with Instagram, has the trend shifted to short videos? I’m a writer and editor (and photographer of sorts), not so much a quick video person.

Back to the the thread, I have a weakness for lo picoso (“the spicy”). Not the sign-a-waiver heat, but definitely the throw a salsa matcha, or sambal dabu dabu on things camp.
