HO technical roadmap, finance, software upgrade, and the next few weeks

We have US and Canada Amazon affiliate link right now. Same link.

Theoretically other countries like UK, FR works too. But we don’t even have bank accounts over in Europe. so no idea how to collect the 0.57€ we may have accumulated over the years.

Oh. Is it really that insignificant? I thought we were helping out just a lil by clicking through your Amazon link when purchasing stuff.

No, US and Canada affiliate can pay for the site upkeep costs on an average month. We don’t have a lot of site traffic from Europe in general so not a lot of affiliate revenue from Europe when I looked at the report a couple of years ago.

This was from a Canadian poster, but I was asking in general.

ETA: My bad, I misunderstood. So clicks from the US & CA from your site DO help you with the costs, just not clicks from Europe.

Gotcha. Good thing we have several posters here reminding folks of Prime Day — myself included

Happy shopping, HOs.

Oh, no! Maybe not?

Waking up an old thread but … I just came to the Site Discussions area to request this exact feature, searched before posting, and found this announcement of the forthcoming change. Was there an update posted on why this didn’t happen? Or is it just really, really slow to roll out?

If you ever need some Postgres help feel free to ping. I do databases for a living.

I think a hug emoji would be nice. Seems a lot of us could use a hug from random strangers, no?

Meh, I’ll keep my hugs for the real world. What I’d like here:

A shrug reac? Hmm. As someone who uses emojis rather generously in my replies, I don’t see those necessary.

But whatever happens (likely nothing, since it’s been a year), keeping them as neutral as possible is probably a good idea.

I could use the shrug for your reply here, it fits perfectly! And various other recent threads I’ve been on. Lots of times we mildly disagree with someone, and we might want to acknowledge receipt of the message without either “liking” it or, worse, starting a fight. Shrug is a nice way to say “okay, thanks for sharing.”

I tend to just leave mild agreements. Not what I’m here for, def not worth my time, and not even an emoji reac

But not doubt TPTB have been mulling this over & decided the fork/like was the least inflammatory way of interacting, regardless of how it’s used here occasionally.

On second thought ….

Yeah, let’s bring on the :woman_shrugging:t3: reaction.

You could just reply to the message with those in the meantime.

It was a good idea, but no go.

add a period after
