I would suggest something with easier, classic recipes:
Or a different MJ book… the older ones have more classic / less fiddly recipes. I bought her original bbc cookbook (secondhand) on a friend’s recommendation and it’s the closest thing to correct measures for many familiar recipes.
Thanks so much. I’ll check out both authors. I looked at some MJ books, curry books look very interesting.
Her Quick & Easy one linked above is very authentic, just shorter ingredient lists and preps. Some use of a PC to speed up stews and curries, pretty much how it would be done in India.
My other favorite is Indian Cookery (from her original BBC series).
The others are good, but these are foundational imho.
