Must’ve been a good year. I went to Hong Kong. Didn’t want to leave.

To break up the long flight, on the way over we spent 2 nights in Singapore, on return, 2 nights in Hong Kong.

We truly enjoyed the food in Hong Kong, big shrimp. (We were a bit tired of just Indian food by then.)

I bit on this one. Not sure it’s really going to be a book I need or love, but for $3 it was hard to resist, given all the love I’ve seen here.

Same, love Oreos. We are allowed to enjoy nice food and ingredients and also slum it. Also it’s nice not to yuck peoples yums…

Me too

Does anyone have any thoughts on this one? I’m pretty sure I don’t need it, but it’s calling me all the same…

Two birthday gifts from friends:

It’s (not surprisingly) fairly lamb-heavy, but has some nice-looking recipes for the non-mammal-eaters among us. Curious whether any HO folks have eaten at the eponymous restaurant in London.

The contents are drawn from her various cookbooks, most of which I have, but I know I’ll read them all in this context, whereas I have only dipped into the essays in the cookbooks themselves here and there.

Thank you!

I just picked this up at the bookstore and tried to convince myself to buy it, but failed.

Good to know. I have not purchased it, either. My hesitation is that the content might lean towards the ultra saccharine, which is fine for some tastes, just not mine.

That was my impression as well.

I am such a sucker for a cookbook pitch, especially Italian. I recently watched a live podcast for Giulia Scarpaleggia’s new book “ Vegetables the Italian Way.” Two other Italian cooks, Enrica Monzani and Flavia Gordano, interviewed her. Of course I couldn’t resist and ordered the book. All 3 of these ladies have cooking classes in Italy. It would be so fun to go on vacation and attend these.
