Fine by me. It’s drifted to that.

Sooon, I’m picking up a KitchenAid 3.5C chopper for $12. It matches the mixer. My wife can’t say “no.”

They ain’t shittin’ when they call it “valley of the sun.” I can burn ants with my glasses down there.

Big game hunting. Better than sweating to death chasing javalina–you can duck right back into the AC.

We made the decision to move to Oregon after a can of motorcycle chain lube literally blew up in the bed of my ranchero.
Took a year for wife’s transfer with the phone company but we couldn’t take the 115+ temperatures anymore.

I can’t blame you one bit. But, go north to elevation, and it’s heavenly. I spent 4 days just south of Flagstaff and love that climate.

We wanted to skedaddle out of the Grand Canyon state if at all possible.
I had already moved my sister and brother in law to the Rogue Valley from the houseboat community in Sausalito so we had a landing spot here.
Besides, she grew up in Nebraska and Kansas for me and we started to miss green landscapes and 4 seasons.
All in all, the right decision for us.
We raised 2 kids here and now this home.

That’s always been the dealbreaker for me whenever I considered moving. Can’t be without.

The great thing about here is we have a modified kinder and gentler 4 seasons where the ground doesn’t freeze.
That was the basis for pear orchards which became vineyards.
We’ve got palm trees and pine trees.

I love Northern California weather. I visit other places if I need to experience “seasons”, went to Japan December 2019 for gorgeous autumn.

I don’t miss Michigan winters, driving and walking in snow and ice. Hot summers.

That term covers a lot of territory. If it’s a place where the climate is moderated by the water or mountains, I could live there. But I could never live where summer days are routinely >100F and it’s tinder dry.

Love it when a plan comes together! I love WI and will die here. I noticed many an elder from the Midwest in Sun City grows to miss the midwest hospitality. “Jyeat yet? come on in.”

Yes, Sacramento is 1.5 - 2 hours drive from SF and is definitely HOT in summer. No snow and ice there, though.

Before I moved to SF, I thought I was moving to sunny California. I guess I thought it was all like LA. Now I realize I would not have been happy in LA area.

I have a friend who “lives” in Red Bluff. Maximum mean temps there for June, July, August and September are 106F, 111F, 107F and 104F respectively. Record highs in those months are more than 10F higher, e.g., 120F.

No. Thank. You.

Mountains are an hour away in every direction but south.
I would be so POed at myself for being stuck in Red Bluff.
I moved thousands of miles away to be in an environment I felt comfortable and productive in.
The central valley is so interesting because sometimes it seems more like Kansas than Kansas :cowboy_hat_face:

When we moved from the Bronx to LA, we thought we could commute to Travis AFB.
