Love that AC piece.
I just got an email from Goodwill. Apparently, Saturday - August 17, 2024 is National Thrift Store Day and everything in Goodwill will be 50% off!!
I don’t know if this applies to all Goodwill stores or just in my State, but it might be worth checking out.
I know I’ll be there when they open the doors!!
I’ll be sure to remind my mom. Thanks for the tip.
I went to my local Goodwill this morning and found a few odds and ends I could use (nothing major). When I went to pay for my items the clerk informed me that they now charge 10 cents for a bag. I asked him if I could just carry my purchases out in my hands and not use a bag, he said “Sure”; so that is what I did.
Apparently, as of Aug. 1st there is a new 10 cent per bag charge.
I didn’t ask the clerk if I could bring my own bags in with me, but I assume you can.
Please let your mother know to take a bag with her – when she goes there.
I hope this is the right thread; please direct me if there is a better one
I have this cast iron griddle for a viking cook top. It seemed like a good idea when we got the cook top, but it is just way too heavy to clean off after anything needing more than a wipe.
It’s not pristine, but I think it can be. But I’m not doing it.
So…Thrift store or recycling bin? Where should it go?
Thrift store for sure!
If you bring your own bag will they credit you? A dime for repurposed plastic grocery bags seems odd. Ours still won’t accept clothing or linens. Apparently their baler is broken and the store is unable to bake and ship out ‘excess’ goods.
Disposable plastic bags have been banned here in Oregon for a few years. We’re encouraged to bring our own bags, whether at goodwill or grocery stores. Haven’t missed them, really.
Our trash is picked up by Recology, so we’re like the most northerly east bay suburb.
No…
(I assume) you can use your bag to carry out your purchases – I carried mine out in my hands (just a few items).
You could try giving it away via freecycle or your local Facebook marketplace
Where I live we’re charged .25 per bag.
They are legal and used here in Arizona. There are recycle programs for single use grocery bags. Whatever I don’t use (for trash), I recycle.
When I started my trash service 10 years ago, I was encouraged to use single use grocery bags for my day to day trash, which they pick up weekly. I haven’t received word to do something different.
Ouch!!
Thrift! Thrift! Thrift!
Burn it off in the oven, rinse/wipe/dry then DEF thrift it. I’d buy it at thrift prices just to play with it some and see if i liked how it cooked.
You are charged 5 cents for plastic bags here in VA (at least in my and neighboring counties) and in DC. I have a nylon bag that compresses into a tennis ball sized roll and fits in my usual walking around purse. And lots more in my car trunk.
Same here in MD.
I went to my local Goodwill for 1/2 price day and got this pie carrier for $2.75 – Score!!
Since I’m usually in charge of desserts, (when Sunshine and I go to various parties) this will be the perfect carrier.
Sweet! I notice you have an adept hand in bakery. Need to make a rocket oven.
Actually, I was researching making my own solar oven. I think its supposed to be 112 degrees & Sunny, today – perfect conditions for a solar oven!!
