I was, of course, referring to the Gazillion dollar car. The Linea and the Synesso are as close to espresso machine perfection as I can imagine, costing almost as much as a Kia.

I had a brief stint with a similarly lever operated machine in the 90’s, a model from la Pavoni. I never could manage to reliably get a decent espresso though, let alone two in a row, and after 4 months I gave up and bought a Nespresso. In hindsight, I guess my failure was at least partly due to a crappy grinder. But information on espresso making didn’t exactly flood the web at that time and professional level grinders were rare and much more expensive than today.
But I still find those machines absolutely gorgeous!

The La Pavoni is challenging to master. The Elektra has a spring loaded lever, making it much more consistent and user friendly.

Who would have thought they’d name an espresso machine after me?

I have a few appliances on my kitchen counters. A convection/toaster oven, a coffee maker and big ass Mini Mazzar grinder
