A special someone, who works for the government, brought me this from Paris!
Wow! You got the good stuff. You’re very lucky!
You can order it online at place like The French PantryCA and also other places
I don’t think they will ship to the Greater Toronto Area, where Charles is based.
This brand pictured below is sold in the GTA, and through your Californian site.
The brand below costs between $25 CAD and $30 CAD in Canada.
California seems to be getting a better deal on French butter despite being located further from France.
USA is lucky!
Sadly, this is Canada…way more restrictive!!
Charles, this American site sells the butter, and unlike many US sites, will ship goods to Canada, but I don’t know if the butter would make it through customs as a parcel.
Because of our dairy farmers, Canadian customs are particularly sensitive towards dairy products coming into the country?
I don’t think it’s only because of our dairy farmers. It’s not like $50-$100/lb French butter hurts $9/lb Canadian butter sales.
I just mean, I don’t know if US companies can currently ship French butter to Canada successfully.
I bought the Normandy-made butter in the photo above at Alex Farms, and it seems to be the only French brand being sold in Canada right now. (I looked around online ) The same brand is also sold at Douce France in TO, and probably at your closest French market.
I don’t know why Beurre D’Isigny is allowed and other brands are not.
Finally managed to get a block of Canadian ’ Rolling Meadow ’ organic, grass fed butter from Healthy Planet to eat with baguette and perform a taste test with the ‘Bordier Butter’.
The difference was night and day…with the Bordier winning hands down!
Whilst the Bordier was packed full of sweet buttery aroma and creamy complex taste profile:+1:
, the Canadian butter was insipid and lacking in character!![]()

Have you tried that other French butter I posted about? I thought it was very good. I used the last of it in some biscotti last week
I also bought Cows PEI butter at Xmas and one other local high end butter from Dough Bakeshop. I will find the name of the local one
