Your Favorite Jarred Marinara/Pasta Sauce...

I like Rao’s Arrabbiata. A lot. I loved Trader Joe’s version, too, just haven’t been there for a while.

Just tried Mutti marinara last week. Not as good as home made but still quite good!

Haven’t seen it here. I often have to order Mutti online.

I’ve been buying mostly DeCecco (smaller jar) and Carbone Marinara or Napoletana lately.

I have recently bought Mezzetta twice. It is good straight up and very good with minimal doctoring (splash of wine, black pepper, peperoncino, dried oregano, and a little olive oil and butter at the end.

I find Mezzetta to be a fairly reliable brand for a number of things. Their pickles / peppers are quite good as well.

Anyone familiar with this? It was recommended by a food store owner who said that an Italian customer swears by it.

Haven’t noticed it, will give it a try when I see it.

Absolutely. My canned and jarred Italian items are almost always Mezzetta, Cento, or Mutti.

Over a year later and I finally opened the jar of Dave’ Gourmet red heirloom sauce. Wonderful! Very fresh tasting and not at all salty on it’s own so just right with some shaved parm on top. We had it over some Rana’s Ravioli (Italian Sausage filled). Still lots of sauce left to enjoy in a pasta bake or other dish.

My upscale grocery changed its online ordering & list-making system earlier this year and now I often can’t find / list items that I know are in-store. I’ll have to go in person to the store to check whether they still carry this sauce.

I’ve recently switched to Mutti pasta sauce from Rao’s, when I can’t be arsed to make my own. Half the price and much better IMHO.

Wondering where you live and which sauces you’re pricing. Here (OC/CA) Rao’s is just around $1.00 more per jar than Mutti. We used to use Rao’s, and still do as Costco has it for a lot less, but we like Mutti better too.

I live in Toronto/Canada. Today, Rao’s was $13 CAD a jar, Mutti was $7.99. I know Rao’s is cheaper at Costco, but I’m not a member and only shop there occasionally with my sisters who have memberships.

Interesting how pricing varies. I just checked my local Ralph’s(Kroeger) app and Rao’s is US$8.99 and Mutti is US$7.99.

Our local World Market Cost Plus carries several Mutti products. I use the puree.

Mine as well. I’ve bought the canned crushed tomato sauce and the tomato paste.

Grocery outlet in Davis CA had mutti double tomato paste tubes on mega clearance a year ago. I bought up a bunch of it, maybe 30 tubes, but we’ve since gone through almost all of it. Love these occasional deals at GO.

Hope it’s no sin, or I’m burning. I used to dip cheap ass white bread in it for many a supper. Couldn’t afford butter, so salad oil sufficed.

How long would you keep using an open jar of tomato pasta sauce that has been refrigerated? A week? 4 days?
