i need an usuba. I’m probably going to buy online, but I don’t know who is trustworthy. Chefsknivestogo? Japanesechefknife? Yoshihiro cutlery?
A saya is important. I can spend as much as $350, though I am happy to spend less.

I have ordered from Chefknivestogo numerous times…they are very prompt in their shipping.
I have very good experiences dealing with below shops, as they all offer personalised advice:
Welcome. These are all good. I believe eBay has some good reputable Japanese knife sellers too. What do you plan to use your usuba. It may not be a bad idea to start with a $100-150 usuba if this is your first usuba.
Chem makes a good point here, A usuba is a pretty specialized knife. I am not trying to talk you out of one, it’s just a specialized knife. I use a nakiri for veggies myself, so I can appreciate a specialized knife.
I would be happy spending less if a good option exists under $150 but i like something that will last and hold its edge well. can you please suggest a good usuba on ebay
The Tojiro usuba on Chef’s Knives To Go intrigues me. I have had excellent experience buying from them. The lower end Tojiro blades have been very good. Given that this usuba costs multiples of their less pricy knives, I can only imagine what this is like.
@gamulay56, did you decide which way to go? We hope you will share pictures and impressions!
