What's on your mind? (2024)

Confused about who is being instructed to move on.

The person who said inappropriate stuff and then played victim, or the people they are cussing out publicly 2 months later?

Or maybe the gaslighters.

.

Ignore is a lovely and powerful feature.

But calling people “bitches” has nothing to do with the ignore function and everything to do with forum rules / community guidelines.

And of course none of it seems to have anything to do with “Thoughtful discussions among avid food lovers on eateries, cooking, and culinary culture” which is the purpose of the site and why some (most) of us are here.

@sck said it best.

I’m sorry you’re confused, even though what I wrote wasn’t confusing at all.

So I’ll repeat exactly what I wrote upthread: I’m suggesting that EVERYONE moves on.

Except your comment wasn’t directed to the person who obviously has not moved on, but to the person who asked about whether calling people “bitches” is acceptable now under community guidelines

Telling people to move on when other people are cursing out members for no reason is not “moving on” but dismissing a valid question and legitimate concern about what is acceptable now on this site.

The word “Everyone” was quite clear.

In reply to MY comment questioning it, not the original one

If the bias is not clear, read back through before you move on

The point regarding what is and isn’t acceptable per community guidelines remains open to those in a position to answer

What a stunning day for a roadtrip. Even the dogs want to go

If everyone doesn’t understand the meaning of the word “everyone” in my initial reply, that is on them, not me.

Dog says “let’s get this show on the road!”

And I hope that AC was on in the truck (and a human was in the passenger or back seat!).

No human, but the car (and a/c) was running.

I think the owner’s lucky if the truck is still around when he gets out

The newfangled cars these days  have a proximity fob that is all that allows an unlock of the doors and/or a shift into gear.

My 2012 Camry just has the beep clicker button on my key but I still have to use my key to start the car.

Technology is sometimes good, sometimes bad.

Please- no name calling. You don’t have to agree with each other. But please treat each other with respect.

And if everyone doesn’t understand the meaning of “bias” and “gaslighting” that is on them.

Here in Berkeley, traffic enforcement has withered. I just assume that the car on the intersecting street will run their stop sign, that anyone ahead of me will turn without signalling, or will suddenly stop in the middle of a street for no apparent reason. FedEx, UPS, and Amazon trucks stop without pulling over, blocking our narrow residential streets. The police department is about 30% understaffed, and they admit that they just don’t pay attention to traffic violations anymore.

Amen! I see that in our little rural Rocky Mountain west towns.
I don’t know if it is the new arrivals or ‘visitors’, I do know it used to be a pleasure to drive here. What’s with the ‘rolling coal’ behavior of the sub-adults driving daddy’s truck? No enforcement of emission rules, if there were any.

Isn’t it illegal in most states? Rural PA folk sure LURV driving through our small college town to … let off some steam, I guess. Compensation for relevant shortcomings.

Sure enough, a short time after I posted, I was driving and I had to slam the brakes when someone raced through a stop sign across from me. Then someone else just stopped in the middle of the street. Another someone pulled out of their parking space in front of me with no signal or hesitation.

I found a magnetized propper-open little arm that holds the washer door open. A miracle. No more stink.

The one rule I remember about my years in SoCal:

NEVER get on the 405.

And as much as I dislike the fact, in certain jurisdictions, turn signals are just telegraphing your punches, ensuring you NEVER get to switch lanes.

See: Boston, west side of L.A, anywhere near Anneheim within 10 miles of Disneyland, Sacramento at theUS 50 / I-5 interchange they’ve been doing construction on for the last 10 years…

I started driving on the 405 at age 15 so consequently I feel like I’m an amazing driver who can handle anything. My spouse says I’m a control freak in the car :man_shrugging::man_shrugging::man_shrugging:
