I’ve seen that claim on lots of labels for cosmetics, also. Vegan, too.

Yep, some people don’t want to ingest any gluten or any animal products in any form.

New food regimen: The Good Lfe Diet.
See, the “i” is missing from “life” because I don’t care for it! Too restrictive, but if it helps with my ills, I’ll reconsider my opinion. In the meantime, I’m armed with lists of contradicting foods (pasta yes!, pasta no!) to consume and avoid and will have to amp up the creative juices with this one, because I don’t like boring food. I’ll be missing those cruciferous and pulse staples. Thank goodness I like rice, but I can see getting weary of it quickly. Gastro doc says ‘do it’.

Which is harder to do than some people may think. I didn’t realize how hard until one time the marketing guys ran some ad copy by me, wanting to claim that some of our products were animal free. On the surface it seemed like such a no brainer that I almost laughed about how silly it was that we (legal) required all ad copy had to go through us.
Then I made a call to R&D and found out we couldn’t validly say that because the polymers used in the plastic portions of the products had stearate additives, which most often were animal sourced.
Chances are, if you’re using any kind of plastic (unless the manufacturer promises they’re using plant triglycerides for their stearates), at some level there could be an animal-derived component.
