Power is out. 94 degrees f at 7:15

OMG! Thatās terrible
I wonāt complain about temps having gone down here significantly
Hope itās back on!
Hope youāre OK and the power outage isnāt related to the fires out there.
Thank you for all your well wishes! Power is back on, no explanation given.
Heat wave related grid issues? Do you still have grey-outs or brown-outs as opposed black-outs of electricity there? Be safe!
Heartbroken this afternoon upon discovering that a nestling robin we tried to save did not make it. Yesterday evening I noticed that the mostly featherless chick had fallen from its nest, but wasnāt yet able to hop, fly, or right itself.
Mama Robin had been trying to keep her little one warm on the ground but I could see that another fallen chick nearby was already gone. The robinās nest was too high up for us to reach, so we quickly assembled a surrogate nest in Mama and Papa Robinās view. Then we got the heck out of the way.
How I wish this had succeeded.
Oh, no! I once saw a nest in the parking lot of a hotel where I was picking up a ride. The chicks were clearly gone already, but the mom was just sitting there a few feet away. My ride and I were really sad about it
Nature, but heartbreaking nonetheless.
Oh, man! Did it got to the bottom of the oven? I have relatives who might do the same.
94F inside the house? Ouch!
No, that was outside. We share our bedroom with a battalion of electric generators and have a stash of decent electric fans.
Right now itās 102 outside. Next week up to 106 predicted. But itās a dry heat.
LoL, ādry heatā. I once had a corporate thing in Scottsdale in late June. One of the āteambuildingā exercises was an ill-advised desert mountain biking afternoon (~ 4 hours) that I ill-advisedly fer shure signed up for. Damn near killed me. 122°F of that there ādry heatā. I ran through my 4 litres of water in the first hour.
The worst Iāve had in the house is 94 upstairs and 88 downstairs during a lengthy thunderstorm/minor hurricane landing (weāre fair enough inland to only get the long arms of any hurricane). We yanked all the mattresses down to sleep in the (relative) cool downstairs. I almost bought a house generator after that, but never pulled the trigger.
Iād much rather be too cold (we more frequently have winter outages) than too hot.
I am so sorry. Decades ago, my mom and I would sit in my parentās sunroom and watch a nest that was built on an outdoor umbrella table. We couldnāt wait for the babies. Then, one day, the nest was destroyed, along with the eggs. I guess it was a predator. Lots of woods around.
Pizza Saturday. Im thinking so far . Cherry tomatoes and capers will be included.
So many shrinks in the city. So many. And yet.
Yikes! Conserve your energy, both personal and household. How do you keep cool and what special tricks do you use to protect your plants?
Tomorrow is National Donut Day in the US.
Iāll have to pass.

Itās always interesting to me to hear about how others are looking forward to ānice weatherā in June, while I am anticipating retreating indoors!
I try to only grow things native to places with heat and drought, and grow most annual things in sub-irrigation planters filled with automatic drip irrigation.
I avoid things that mention shade, and āfull sunā gets afternoon shade when possible.
I buy a jar of capers for piccata that I make maybe twice a year (if that), then they sit there lonely and ignored in the fridge.
I make pizza every week. Why it didnāt occur to me to add capers, I donāt know. But I will now.
