Those pilots are so incredible for what they do . Last year i saw that big boy fly over my house. 767 ?
I’ve had AAA for 41 years for auto and over 37 years for 4 different households. AAA has never done us wrong, even after the Loma Prieta quake in '89, the Oakland Hills Fire of 1991 and assorted auto mishaps over the years. I highly recommend them. Our adult kids are happy with their coverage for all their different needs, too.
I know how stressful that feels. I hope all works out well for you. When a major fire was happening near me I opted to leave before evacuation was ordered. It was just too stressful (I could see the flames.) There is something to be said about sticking around to put out any tiny spot fires that might start near ones house but with poor visibility, that is pretty hard to do. I have few options of evacuation routes. The Shasta area is not much better. I don’t know which fire is concern to you, but I hope you will error on side of leaving sooner rather than later.
On an irreverantly lighter note, after their drop, we had a Barbie-pink house a handful of years before the current craze. Always on the cutting edge.
I’ve been using the Canadian equivalent, CAA, for travel insurance. I’ve been pretty happy with CAA, too. They try a little harder than the banks with respect to offerings for travel insurance, car insurance and other 3rd party health insurance in Canada.
Also- with respect to keeping insurance costs down, if you went to a post secondary institution, your alumni association may get you a better rate. I was surprised that one of my post secondary institution alumni rates for car insurance was much lower than my professional association’s rate, as well as lower than another alumni association’s rate.
We’ve been happy with the travel services in the past, too. Just having the auto club in addition to the insurances has been a blessing. Our AAA rates are the lowest we can get in the Rocky Mountain west; thanks for the info!
RAIN! BLESSED RAIN! The AQI is back down to low moderate, the smoke is knocked down for now and we can relax a bit. Rain is welcome here, now. I am hoping those who are having too much rain, too quickly can get to safety and be safe. Take care, peeps!
Not even the 15+ # black cat wants to venture outside today. Can you see his faint frown?Moon landings: still cool.
Success!
Amul, the iconic Indian dairy / butter brand is famous for its tongue-in-cheek weekly hoardings / billboards about current events. They had one ready for the moon landing.
“Munh / moonh meetha karo” is the Hindi version of a common phrase meaning “sweeten your mouth” – when anything good and worth celebrating happens (from exam results to weddings and everything else that is happy-making), people share sweets with those in their lives for this purpose.
The last one is the imprint on the surface, with the Ashoka pillar. Very cool.
Wow! I wonder how it’s going? I hope it turns out okay.
Yikes! Take cover!
2023 has been a tough year… First off, I had to replace part of my garage roof (after a wind storm). I can’t decide if roofing shingles have gotten heavier or if I’ve aged since the last time I had to haul a bundle of shingles up a ladder.
Then our refrigerator stopped working and I ended up having to get a new one. Between waiting for an evaluation from the Sears technician and getting a new fridge that didn’t work, that ordeal took a month to resolve.
Then a feeder band from Hurricane Hilary did significant damage to my big mesquite tree. That took me almost a week to trim out all of the damaged wood and haul it away. I could only work a few hours early in the morning (because of the extreme heat). I did save the larger pieces for firewood.
And yesterday, we come home from a Labor Day party and I decide to throw a load of laundry into the washer and it stops working. I tore it down and it appears all it needs is a new timer. Now to find one at a price that won’t break the bank.
Dare I say… What’s next??
Play the lottery and break the current run?
Did the discarded mesquite not qualify for chip making?
Luckily this happened around 60 miles from where I live. The immediate danger has passed.
Maybe pollination will go up this week?
I’m annoyed. Lol. Trying not to whine.
