Eggplant on seeded slice was PDG! Threw a little shade on the tomato
Looks wonderful! Curious to know what you baked the bread in. My mother used to make a date-nut quick bread in coffee cans.
I have a glass canister , actually two, that was made for King Arthur Baking a long time ago. It was for New England steamed brown bread, made by Catamount glass which is no longer in business. The glass is well buttered, I also put a piece of parchment in the base, I’ve made a few different varieties of bread in it without a problem.
ETA…My mil did the same in coffee cans, the glass is considerably taller.
Technically breakfast, but felt like lunch.
BLT with Wright applewood-smoked thick cut bacon (thx for reminding me of this bacon’s existence, @Miss_belle!), FM tomatoes, Duke’s, iceberg, Aldi’s Italian bread.
Much better bacon than the crappy Appleton we got at Aldi recently. And it closes properly and easily
The eggplant algrodoce from yesterday was equally good today. A sauté of onion, fennel and San Marzano tomatoes, part of which were pureed for a sauce for the meatballs.
Lamb meatballs with herbs from the terrace pots, parsley, tarragon, marjoram, these were baked in the oven until lightly browned and then served over the sauce.
PLT…crisped prosciutto, tomatoes and lettuce.
PMT…crisped prosciutto, mozzarella, tomato.
Raspberry ricotta tart…whipped ricotta with flecks of candied orange,a layer of raspberry compote under the ricotta and dollops of raspberry on top.
I was starving after a lengthy chiropractor appointment, and very much looking forward to our traditional taco Friday.
Shared our usual flight of two Cajun shrimp tacos and chose the brisket tinga for our third this time.
Sofa king good
Salmon, shrimp, and avocado salad lettuce cups with heirloom tomato slices, capers and Kewpie. The little gems were crisp and held their shape this time.
Fresh focaccia, pro-shoot, moozarell, tomato, basil pesto and a drizzle of EVOO = tasty lunch sangweech
We got take out báhn mì for lunch (BBQ pork for him and BBQ chicken with paté and extra jalapeños for me). They were both very good and someone was very interested in his dad’s sandwich!
Aw, man do I miss the banh mi from Ba Le in Philly. Such a treat to have the place nearby, and our go-to for our visits back home last year.
Looks great!
Those gorgeous green eyes!!
'taint the end of summer at casa lingua, nuh-uh.
Lunch for my niece and her daughter today. Old cheddar and scallion soufflé. I doubled the recipe, to serve 4 (8 eggs). My cheese soufflé never rises straight up, with a flat top. I wonder if it’s because of the amount of batter; my sweet soufflés, made in smaller ramekins, always rise straight up. Tasted great, and was really appreciated.
Dessert was petits pots de crème chocolat (my adaptation of crème caramel, caramel replaced by chocolate); old picture.
Today’s lunch was a test batch of Potato Gnocchi. This is the first time I have made this dish from scratch, and I didn’t want dinner to be a complete flop. A small test batch was required. After boiling, the gnocchi were sauteed in some olive oil, butter and Italian seasoning, then topped with a little Parmesan cheese. Very good – Sunshine also gave her approval!!
Thank you to all of the posters for tips, tricks and inspiration from the “tracking household expenses” thread.
Your soufflé could not possibly be more gorgeous!!! Rising straight up is boring.
