Seafood salad: leftover poached salmon and shrimp, avocado, tomato, feta, Kewpie, on whole-wheat english muffins.
Kimbap from Costco.
Leftover mater salad
And leftover grilled chicken and zuke w/feta.
I went to a Thai food festival today and had a lovely time. I went last year and it was terribly disorganized. The line ups for the vendors were really long and intertwining with each other so no one knew which vendor they were in line for and average wait time was 45 minutes. It was really hot out that day too so everyone was cranky. This year the food festival seemed to be better organized so the lineups were more orderly. I had to wait at one stall for 25 minutes but the wait time at the other places averaged 5 minutes.
The first dish I ordered was a chicken lab.
The next dish I ordered was deep fried shrimp which was neither flavourful nor crunchy. Good thing they had a sweet and spicy sauce to add to it.
Then came dessert. I bought a donut and iced tea from a restaurant in town that now has a bakery and it has been getting rave reviews. Now I know why. That was the best iced tea and the best donut I’ve ever had.
One table had carved fruit on display.
That laab looks great! I’m probably making turkey laab tomorrow
I’ve never had lab before and I wanted to try some before making it mysellf and it was delicious. I have some big shoes to fill
Here’s a great start and a recipe I riff on:
I don’t make the slaw, but the laab couldn’t be any easier, trust!
Tx! Bookmarked. I might make the slaw too since I have most of the ingredients.
Out to our favorite local Mexican place for late lunch/early dinner.
White sangria and legua tacos to start:
Then we split a grilled half octopus and got more tortillas for continued taco making:
Finished up by munching on the rest of the tortilla chips and guac with a few more rounds of drinks. I am stuffed!
Should’ve made a quesadilla with the pizza.
A huevos con chorizo quesadilla. Run for the border!
Split the leftover laab for that protein kick after our workout, and for the heat to distract us from our general wobbliness.
My brown bag lunch today was a quinoa salad with zucchini, pine nuts and parsley and cherries for dessert.
You can make Hungarian uborkasalata - cucumber salad.
Egg, sausage & veggies bake, with fresh fruit (red grapes, sliced orange, white nectarine) on the side. Dessert: peanut caramel ice cream pie, with chocolate sprinkles.
