What's for lunch? (2025)

To me that looks like an excellent $16 purchase! YUM!

Another turkey pesto provolone arugula panuozzo for lunch. I made the dough into a loaf shape rather than a folded circle, which I think I like a little better. It was a bit too thin in parts though. I also put it back into the oven to melt the provolone a bit and dressed the arugula in lemon juice and olive oil which gave it some nice acidity.

I finally felt like half a hoomin again, just in time for Europe’s biggest music festival, the Fête de la Musique. It’s free, there’s music stages all over town (and all over other European cities), and we scooted around to find some fun stuff to listen to. We also needed sustenance, so we split a single smashburger with cheese, onion, lettuce, tomato, and extra grilled jalapeños (absolutely devoid of any heat, but added a nice kronch).

Off to the next stage  :musical_score: :notes: :guitar: :saxophone:

A spicy chicken and a spicy beef empanada from a local-ish bakery in the burbs, pickled veggies on the side. Nice kick to the empanadas.

Take out from Domenic’s in Waltham, MA. I got prosciutto cotto with provolone and smoked mozzarella, roasted peppers, olives, and capers, and arugula.

Edited to fix the scourge of autocorrect (cotton to cotto).

This is new to me

Thanks for catching an autocorrect crime!

Today’s lunch was a salad using the spring mix, radishes and tomato from this week’s CSA.

Even with auto correct my spelling is horrible  That sangweech looks delicious regardless.

You must be pleased that the patios are open; being immunocompromised is very serious.

It is now 36 degrees Celsius in Ottawa. I don’t know what that is in Fahrenheit but it feels like 1000 degrees. Lunch today was a repeat of last night’s dinner: salad with deli ham and a cold glass of milk (out of picture). On tap for this afternoon is air conditioning and water drinking.

It’s hot AF in F

Hope you have a way to stay cool!

Thank you  It’s too hot to Google today

Things are going well other than the heat. I spent the morning sitting in front of the air conditioner at home and I will be spending the afternoon at an air conditioned mall. I hope I don’t have to wait too long for the bus since I rely on public transit to get around. Most of the time I don’t mind the wait - the only exception is when it’s hot as Hades or bitterly cold.

Leftover hot chicken tender, on my own toasted sesame bun, with “cheddar style “ cheese, spicy mayo.
Sliced Putter’s spicy pickles :cucumber: and crispy crinkle cut fries, also leftover, on the side.

The last of the deli meat and another salad for lunch. There’s a recipe for Korean lettuce salad on Maangchi’s website that I like that I was hoping to make next with all this spring mix I have in the fridge but the dressing is spicy. I don’t think my stomach can handle spice right now (the heat is bothering me) so I’m going to have to find a plan B.
