Spicy Malaysian
PENANG PRAWN SOUP NOODLES with Cantonese Shrimp Won-Ton, Broccolini, Arugula and Fried Shallots topping.
That looks great!
Thank you!
Crusty sesame loaf, mortadella, burrata, pistachio pesto.
Just 3 ingredients, and absolute & utter perfection. Local draft for my PIC, Sicilian green mandarin soda for me to warsh it all down.
Sounds like you got your summer weather! Seriously, years back we also did Italy during a heat wave. Probably mid 90s. And I remember we were all cranky and bothered but my youngest maybe 11 then was a true monster between 9am and 9 pm. Gelato temporarily helped and the best part of the day were the cool morning walks in the quiet and the dark cooler evenings in various piazzas with the music and revelling crowds.
In advance of my fulfilling my 10 year quest tomorrow to visit the famed conceptual/land art installation called the Lightning Field outside of Quemado, NM, I hit the road a day early to prevent showing up to this place after a 650 mile drive. So I went 2/3rds of the way to Flagstaff, where I had the famed " #49 El Remirez" burrito (Pork Chile Verde and cheese filling, topped with red enchilada sauce) at Martanne’s Burrito Palace in the historical district. I loved it. It’s been several hours since I finished my meal and I’m still full.
I knew nothing about this and now I want to know everything about it.
Hi,
Start here:
Spots are determined by a lottery that you must submit at exactly midnight February 1st MST to their website. Approximately 1000 people are allowed to visit each year. ( 6 people each day)
And then I found several essays online by people who have visited that I found helpful. Texas Tech University also offers a graduate course examining several land art projects throughout the US. The class syllabus is fascinating.
Been wanting to go to this since my teens. Worth the trek?
We shore did! I don’t remember being so negatively affected by the heat in previous years, but maybe I’m just old We had to cut our excursion to the archeological park short bc I thought I was going to faint. Seems the only place I can handle the heat is submerged in the sea (don’t mind if I do), but bopping around dusty stones mid-day with the sun pounding my head is clearly not my thang.
Our spontaneous trip to Palermo was mid-May last year, and the temps were more bearable. I also thought we ate better than on this trip
I’ll have to keep that in mind for next summer!
I think I’d still be full 24 hours after that!
Even in Europe the intense temperatures in the Mediterranean in the summer can be dangerous. British doctor, author and media personality Michael Mosley died last year in Greece in early June when he was walking outdoors in extremely hot weather. Summers seem to be getting hotter and hotter.
And we just had a tornado touch down about 20 miles from where we live back home
Today’s lunch is a salad of leftover vegetables. I used spring mix, yellow pepper, cucumber, and cherry tomatoes. I added kalamata olives and goat cheese to the mix.
We’re on the subway to our pad. It’s pouring rain & cold out (16C), and we are probz going to order hand-pulled noddles, but that looks so refreshing and delicious RN
