Quick solo dinner at Nopa https://www.nopasf.com/ - first time visit and though it was just a relative quick dinner, it was overall a very good first impression with good dishes and a nice seat directly in front of the kitchen
Meals have been pretty meat-centric lately, so…
Sardines/hummus/tomatoes/cucumbers/pickled red onions/Ryvita sesame crisps/good Greek EVOO and a splash or 2 of green Tabasco.
As spotted on this forum, an ATK recipe for cast-iron “baked” ziti with charred grape tomatoes.
I made a half-recipe, tossing in at the end a handful of grated zucchini (because this time of year I’m adding zucchini to everything). Served with roasted sausages and cucumbers in vinaigrette.
This is really @DaveCook’s fault, because he put up a picture of kale laing on his Instagram, and I looked up the recipe, and I was like, I have all that stuff. Plus bluefish.
I overcooked the kale, because I cooked the bluefish on top of it. I probably should’ve pan-fried it separately, but our dishwasher’s on the fritz, and I’m sick of washing pans.
TJ’s Japanese fried rice with extra rice, ginger, and scrambled egg. Roasted baby summer squash with “Zhong” black bean and garlic chili sauce. And roasted branzino filet with mirin, soy sauce, and miso butter.
Total no effort fridge dive tonight. Leftover Costco rotisserie chicken, pulled, browned in a little butter, and tossed with barbecue sauce. Swiss cheese, pickles, red onion, seeded roll. Remnants of chips on the side.
Jerk chicken chow mein and Trini Mac Pie from a place called Patois in Toronto. Way way way too salty for me. I have had 6 cups of water or herbal tea over the last 3 h, and I’m still thirsty.
When will I learn not to eat food that’s too salty for me?
