I overdid it in the yard yesterday and today. Send me out in my yard with my chain saw, loppers and pruners in my back pocket and I can get lost for hours.
Fried panko crusted shrimp was wfd, chili and wasabi sauce, fried rice, cabbage, pickled carrot & daikon radish, green onion, red pepper slaw with rice vinegar & oo dressing, black sesame seeds. There was a Tanqueray rocks with tipsy olives.
Applewood and rosemary smoked lamb kebabs. Homemade pita, hummus and raita. Greek salad with marinated feta and olives.
BF made one of my favorite salads tonight, something i dreamed up years ago when first discovering Trader Joe’s steamed lentils (and yeah, i know they’re super easy to make from scratch!) - lentils in a bowl, arugula (we were out, so he subbed spinach) mixed in, cherry tomatoes cut in half, and my dressing of dijon, minced shallots, lemon juice, s&p gets stirred in. topped with hard boiled eggs and avocados, with a little dressing drizzled over. i just really love this combination - the textures as much as the taste. Better with arugula, and maybe there should have been more spinach than lentils, but he did a great job. And for him, a little sliced chicken breast with some of the dressing on the side.
Reminds me of a salad my friend makes - TJ’s lentils, arugula, and harissa all mixed together. I haven’t tried it, but she says it disappears at potlucks. Yours looks delish!
I know you’re above using it, but a shot of Kitchen Bouquet would turn that plate into a glamour shot. No flavor, just color. The difference between Norma Jean and Marilyn.
We did Chinese takeout tonight but since we have the grill, I wanted to make my own “chicken on a stick” as an appetizer. We went way overboard and this could have been a meal (with rice, of course).
Got some grilling in before the rain. Actually, it started to downpour but I pulled the grill right to the screen door and was able to stand inside and keep rotating the skewers while staying dry. The smoke detectors were not triggered. Boneless skinless chicken thighs got an Asian marinade but then we basted them with BBQ sauce. Really amazing combo.
There was a martini with gigantic Goya olives (they look really tiny in the picture!).
ooh, harissa! i’d try that.
oh.my.god. that looks fantastic!
Do tell.
Color me intrigued.
Did you pre-cook it ? You can first braise it for 1-1.5 hours (then cut the skin) and afterwards put it in the oven for another 60-90 minutes
I’d have been ALL OVER both of these meals! They look wonderful!
Me too! Actually I’d be all over everything posted here! I wish we all lived close enough together we could have a potluck…
Such a potluck would have to last for several days to consume all the goodies!
Yeah, it’s just a bougie way of saying nice margarine. This one is cultured though (oat milk) and really good.
@Desert-Dan maybe Sunshine would like it?
Please report back
How about some of these to go with your yummy skewers?!
Interesting snack find:
" LAY’s Tokyo Yakitori Flavor Potato Chips " available in most Oriental supermarkets and T&T. Fairly decent! Thick cut with a sweet and smoky flavor profile.
Thank you…
Yes, presently she is trying this “Violife” plant based butter, but I will try to find this Oat Milk Butter at our local grocery stores.
Thank you! It was very yummy!
