Thank you @John and @THECHARLES !
The soft shell crabs were still alive when Mrs. P purchased them at Peter’s Fish Market in Midland Park, NJ. We also purchased some beautiful whole red snapper that we vacuum sealed and plan to have on Father’s Day next Sunday.

BF’s birthday dinner - his annual request for a cheeseburger with a runny fried egg on an English muffin. Today’s cheese was Tillamook Swiss. Tater tots on the side. IPA for him and Barbera D’Alba for me.

The first rain and cooler temps in about a month had me pull out the hot plate. Spicy Sichuan seafood hot pot with shrimp/roasted garlic/mushroom broth. Wild-caught scallops, black tiger shrimp, bok choy, wonton noodz. Napa and shiitake had already simmered in the broth for a while before we sat down. Good eats.

Late dinner. Did a blind bake on a Pillsbury crust and made a roasted asparagus, bacon/pancetta, and caramelized onion quiche with shredded Monterey Jack and goat cheeses and minced fresh thyme.

Salad of buttercrunch lettuce, sliced radishes and cukes, and cocktail tomatoes with my favorite Maple-Balsamic Vinaigrette.

Wine.

Weather was wonky all day with sunshine, clouds, downpours, thunder, then sunshine again, but the latest rain that came through at about 7:45 produced a rainbow. I don’t get many rainbows, or don’t see them near my home). Thanks to my neighbor across the way telling me to go look out my front door.

Oven braised chicken thighs in a simple sauce - just white vermouth, onions, garlic, sage and thyme mingling with pan juices. Fabulous. Roasted broccoli side not pictured.

Oh no! My sympathies, truly. That is one of my worst food fears, since I love shellfish so much! An aunt developed an allergy like that in middle age - had to go to ER during a shrimp dinner at a restaurant. I hope your allergy doesn’t extend to all shellfish.

We enjoyed another excellent dinner at Bistro D’Azur in West Orange, NJ, including veal chop; whole black bass; ratatouille; duck confit salad; lobster crepe; Spanish chips; It all went great with an excellent Amarone and cabernet.

Tonight’s dinner was leftover bbq from last weekend’s ribfest. I had a sausage and cornbread from ribfest, squash from the freezer and a tomato from this week’s CSA.
