The rib chops look good
Was this from Pokeworks? Iāve been hearing all about these burritos, but I have to say the idea doesnāt really appeal to me. It seems like the ingredient distribution would be all wrong.
Lasagna. This mini was in the freezer. Noodles, fresh ricotta, lots of herbs, oven roasted cherry tomatoes, and a little mozzarella.
Sunday ābrunchā (aka, me standing over the sink in the kitchen after my first yoga class in years): crispy fried egg with smoked paprika (my favorite), messily plated but so good.
Sunday dinner: rib-eye (not overcooked for a change!) with a balsamic glaze, linguaās NYT lemony/creamy linguini (i added fresh peas) and roasted San Marzano tomatoes (from TJs - REALLY great tomatoes) with aleppo, fresh basil and oregano.
Monday: another batch of Porca a Alentejana (sob - no clams - it was just easier to make one dish instead of two) with crispy paprika potatoes and broccolini braised with chicken stock, garlic and a little dry sherry.
Tuesday: unexpectedly invited out to dinner with a friendās visiting family (from India) at which they treated her friends! very nice dinner at a fancy Indian place, with too many dishes to go into, and it was too dark for pics.
Wednesday: out to the Salvadoran place again for review - one delicious carne asada pupusa, pork pastelitos, while the BF had a chile relleno stuffed with ground pork and cheese, salpicon of beef, mint and green onions on the side (so light and delicious!)
Tonight: the BF and I were in agreement, after all my excesses, on a giant salad with some protein and NO CARBS. his answer to that? a smallish salad, buffalo sausage, potatoes roasted with butter and parm regg, some tomatoes and raw red pepper, and bacon wrapped asparagus. he is not to be trusted. and of course i ate the potatoes. iām not crazy.
out for dinner with a friend tomorrow night - our favorite haunt, lately - http://lolindasf.com/menus/ - of course, helps that heās Argentinian and itās right around the corner from mi casa - weāll likely split a small steak, each get a plate of sweetbreads, and down some Manhattans.
Happy long weekend, everyone!

And also a double like to you .
From uma temakeria, really just like a big sushi roll. ⦠I think with the regular amount of rice, like what my coworker had, that it could be too much rice. Worth a try at some point but I wouldnāt wait in line for it
LOL - my youngest, when he was little, wouldnāt eat his eggs unless they were crispy like this - so in order to not have to make different eggs for different members of the family - we all eat them like this now too. I just add bread to the pan beforehand. I donāt know of anyone else who eats them like this. BTW the rest of your pics look scrumptious - and I hope you have a great holiday weekend as well.
Iām just back from the dentist, having had the second procedure for some dental implants. My face is frozen and my gums will be sore later. Mrs H proposes something that doesnt need much chewing - pasta & meat sauce.
We will be eating BBQ at my brotherās house this weekend - which is always a big deal with too much food, so I am keeping it light tonight (the ālose before I know I will gainā plan). Corn on the cob on sale at Whole Foods, so I picked up a bunch of those which I will just boil with a ton of salt - and serve with a mixed lettuce salad and chicken piccata.
Have a great long enjoyable weekend and stay safe!
thx!
bread⦠do you mean bread crumbs?
A huge slice of homemade bread - with a large hole - and the egg inside - cooked until crispy. That way you get a crispy egg AND toast.
Crisp-fried egg (yolk must be runny) with paprika is also my favourite. Best with Maggi sauce and mopped up with baguette.
I plan to eat Porco Ć Alentejana every day next spring. Or at least the famed pigās products every day somewhere in Alentejo.
(Btw, maybe interesting to you: Alentejo is pronounced Ah-lenn-te-zoo. O ending is pronounced as āooā. Pree-ZUN-too )
Simply fried in butter with chives. Why complicate something so delicate and refinedā¦
Perfect price-ratio Riesling. Eur. 6,00 for this one, tastes better than the eur. 10,00!
Both fish weighs half kilo, with roe intact. (eur. 20/kg)
WFD: ~ Rotisserie Chicken. Fresh pitta in which to stuff chicken and salad. Or not.
~ Tossed Salad . Bok choy, carrot strips, radishes, cucumber, tomato, scallions, peanuts, cilantro.
~ Peanut-Ginger Dressing: Honey, rice vinegar, walnut oil, soy sauce, peanut butter, sesame oil, pinch oāS, chili garlic sauce, ginger, garlic.
WWFD: Last night we had a one-skillet meal of spicy Italian turkey sausages with chopped onions, potatoes, and red bell peppers. This was seasoned simply with S & P, garlic, red pepper flakes. Everything was cooked in olive oil, and chopped parsley was sprinkled over top each serving.
A typical Summer-time repast especially at Street Fairs and La Festa. The meat and vegetables were served with couscous steamed in chicken broth instead of in a roll.
oh! iāve made those! toad-in-the-hole!
i love that language soooo much.
i wish weād gone to Alentejo. Didnāt realize it was such a food haven until after we got back.
i too love a runny yolk, more than life itself, but this one got away from me, just a little.
Classic!
Is that Jesus in the upper piece of toast!?!??
Ouchie. Hope the pain goes away very soon!
Today was a nice day doing some antiquing in Laconia, NH, and I picked up a little sumpin-sumpin Iāll use later this weekend.
I was planning dinner on the way home, as I needed to stop at Hannafords before coming home. Picked up a few things to make dinnerā¦and got home to find that I had forgotten I had taken out some steak tips for dinner tonight. OK, change of plans.
Marinade of olive oil, teriyaki sauce, maple vinegar, maple syrup, dried thyme, dried onions and probably something else Iām forgetting. Blame the V&Ts.
Grilled on the grill pan and finished in the convection oven. Baked tater in the convection oven and steamed green beans. Wine with dinner; Vodka and Lemonades pre-dinner. Quite good
