None of the alternate names seem to be anything our Costco has. But our pickin’s are slim. Salmon (x many!), catfish, cod, that may be about it.
It’s my own fault. On impulse i bought this new to me upton’s naturals seitan (i like seitan usually) and then added it to the lovely delicious chunky tomato sauce that was nearly done with the onions, garlic, tomatoes, tomato paste… And no. That stuff is waaaayyy too much like what i remember of ground beef! Totally creeped me out. So the sauce is headed to the freezer and i’ll bring it to one of my omni friends at some point.
Anyhoo. I was cranky and very hungry so my pasta just got a good gob of melty earth balance and leftover roasted veggies. Meh.
At least you get good salmon. Costco salmon here is largely farmed Atlantic raised questionably. They have a newish contract with a Norway farmed salmon which is said to be antibiotic free and uses cleaner methods of raising.
I’ve benn buying their steelhead trout since it is said to be raised cleaner and gets a nod from Seafood Watch
We may be THE ONLY Left Coast people who don’t particularly care for salmon I’m pretty sure I’ve haven’t seen steelhead.
Another pizza.
We were tired and hungry after tennis so quick was necessary…quesadilla with spicy pepper jack and shredded BBQ beef all topped with shredded cabbage and avocado slices.
I didn’t have lunch yesterday and by the end of the day I found myself in very close proximity to my favorite Chinese buffet. Yes, I was the lonely looking guy, table for 1 at the buffet at 6pm. Of course they sit me next to the table of a family of 8. What can I say, I’m a sucker for peel and eat shrimps. Lol Lets hope these fortune cookies are legit!

And the windows were officially opened for the day for the annual Window Day for the Cats. They were pleased. (Gratuitous Window Cat pic below.)

Late lunch so a light snack for dinner …the picture below sums up my husband and food nemesis.
Four Fat Fowl St. Stephen picked up at Red Hook farmers market, with a half sleeve of ritz crackers…I can’t
Edited to add Sawkill farm liverwurst pic…normally the mere mention of liverwurst makes me gag…this was much more like a pate and it was delicious… eaten not with ritz crackers
gratuitous spring cat pics included…
Your kitty is adorbz, chowdom!
Thank you … she marches to the beat of a very different drummer
Don’t they all…
I just laughed out loud…you have a point and a good one it is !!!
These are enough for 3 meals. Starting with half the duck today. No real cooking is going to be done for a couple of days.
Quack…I got the half a duck, but please do tell what the other two are. Looks like a mighty fine thick piece(s) of bacon on the left? In the middle?
In the middle is crisp-roasted pork belly. Left is pork shoulder (I think it’s the cut), called "
Char Siu" in Cantonese.
I just eat any of these with rice or noodles and steamed vegs. The Char Siu is also nice on top of noodle soup, or in steamed buns.
Well they all look delicious, enjoy!
SCHNARFLE THAT BELLY!!! Way WAY too cute, chowdom!
And if a bowl of Cheerios is a perfectly acceptable dinner, so is cheese and crackers.
Yes.
Yes.
And Yes.
To all three dinners, whatever they may be!

Panko; parsley; Parmigiano; lemon zest and juice; S & P; olive oil; cod fillets; The bread crumbs are seasoned with the aromatics, fillets dredged in a bit of flour, crumbs then coat the fillets which will be roasted in a hot oven for just a few minutes. I like a sprinkle of sweet paprika to dress up the top of each piece fish when serving.
