Bresse chicken again because H couldn’t resist one at half price when he saw it in Metro on 30/12. Actually no idea why they were on sale in December. A much smaller one this time.

Cooked with barbecue for the smokey flavour

For H’s Xmas present, I got him a box of 4 different types of marbled beef, the first was the Kobe beef. The second one was the American Black Angus, from Creekstone Farm, Kansas. Delicious.

Tonight WFD, got a break from cooking. Just ordered from Deliveroo le Petit Cambodge.

Spring rolls with lettuce wraps, stirred fried lemongrass chicken and beef bo bun. Very generous in portion and good for delivery food.

I made Korean soybean paste stew with beef from Maangchi’s latest cookbook. It was decent; I don’t think DH liked it because he didn’t have seconds. Sides were spicy soy bean sprouts and steamed short-grain rice with homemade kimchi.

Sounds great, too bad hubby isn’t a fan. And homemade kimchi!! I just finished watching a Korean series Itaewon Class on Netflix, and it always talked about the delicious tofu stew with long fermented soybeans.

Thanks for sharing! Just the kind of recipe I’m looking for these days. I love this stew though have never prepared it myself.

BF took the remains of the NYE cassoulet - beans/sausage/slab pork - and put them in a broth he made with my chicken stock, plus leftover Vietnamese noodles, an egg, plus a bunch of spinach. Really hearty and delish on a rainy day.

This was WFB this a.m. - a farm-fresh egg from our airbnb dude from the NY weekend on buttered rye toast. gorgeous yolk, no?

We had a big wind storm Sunday/Monday. Woke up at 4:00 to no power, fortunately it was back on by 9:00 am. They were predicting gusts up to 70 mph but I don’t know what they actually were.
Dinner tonight, shrimp sauteed in miso butter, left over from the crostini, Jasmine rice, onion, red & orange baby bells. Brussels sprouts slaw, sugar snaps, carrots, red curry paste, rice vinegar & oo dressing. Sprinkled with furikake

The skin looks perfect. :yum:

Thanks. Actually i don’t mind just eating the crispy skin, so good because of the fat. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I have eaten crunchy pork crackling in restaurants, rarely saw crispy chicken skin, maybe only as kawa yakitori.

I swear, you have a Korean soul. :dolls::kr: (I can’t even believe that first emoji, of a Korean couple in their formal wedding finery even exists! I had to use it even though your husband wasn’t into the daengjeong chigae).

Starting with New Year’s dinner and a couple other meals. Scallops, pilaf and veg, roast lamb, Parmesan potato wedges, Greek salad, and ground pork, eggplant and tofu with rice.

ETA: scallops had a corn and chermoula spices treatment, which was rather meh, but scallops were good. Had sparkly wine with this meal, and drank the red with the roast lamb.
