Last night we threw together chicken pot stickers, hot and sour soup, bbq pork buns, and steamed broccoli before my last sewing class. After a similar frantic rush I finished hemming my pajama top and wore it to bed.
Lemon, or some additional spices to oomph up the stuffing flavor - paprika, Aleppo pepper, or dill or tarragon if you’re going herby.
While I’m appreciative of the LOTS of white space and no ads, her formating was irritating with extra double spacing, and I’d probably have clicked out before even finding the recipe. LOL
After all that hemming, was there also some hawing?
Yum, tendon!!!
Absolutely!
Ranch cucumber salad, bay leaf rice, and black eyed peas in peanut sauce. Hit the spot. We had some raw oysters out before and I Still. Don’t. Get. It.
What don’t you get, raw oysters??
I’m right there with you.
Takes me back to early days in nyc and the plentiful chino-latino takeout arroz con pollo… yum.
Hi folks - It’s been an eventful few weeks for me…
Decided I absolutely had to go visit my family in india whom I had not seen in almost 2 years - damn pandemic
No tickets… started shopping and packing anyway
Got my booster the very first day it was available (suffered the consequences happily - protection plus hope of travel)
Finished packing
Found a ticket, left 2 days later
Reunited!
So. Here we are. Lots of meals, but here is today’s - a special celebratory one because my sibling had wonderful news at work and mom wanted to celebrate with his favorite meal even though he’s far away.
Puri-bhaji-shrikhand: fried puffy bread, potatoes, and (drained and whipped) sweet saffron yogurt.
(This was one of several helpings - I made tiny puris from habit, and so instead of 4-6 normal ones each we ate 8-12 each of these )
There will be backlash when my nephews see the pic… they LOVE this meal made by grandma (I predict their mom is going to have to replicate it this weekend hahaha)
Wow! How exciting! Good to see family and friends! Looking forward to your meals and adventures.
WFD last night. Marrow bone, followed by beef bourguignon, the small onions were replaced by leek, as usual, the additional lard and button mushrooms was a must. No potato, I served with parsnip. H preferred potato though. Delicious, but digestion problem followed, I blamed the fatty marrow.
I’m crazy about tendons too. So good! I think I even prefer the braising beef than the tender steak.
@Mr_Happy great bowl of noodles!
No friends for a while… family here has been isolating very carefully due to vulnerabilities and the broader situation / carelessness at large.
Hope to slowly help them emerge and normalize a little first - I know from my own experience how jarring that was, and how strange it still is.
The friends are old gold… and they understand what’s important. We chat on the phone often while I’m here, which is both silly (because one could chat on the phone from anywhere) and lovely (because there are few people in life one can just pick up with without missing a beat).
It’s been so long since I got marrow bones and roasted them - yum!
I like them on a little crunchy bread of whatever kind (toast points, crostini), sometimes with a bit of caramelized onion alongside. So good.
Marrow bones here (well - in the US) got really expensive with the bone broth craze. The inflated price of them and chicken livers just make me so mad!
Great that you’ve got your booster before leaving. Looks like you don’t need to be quarantined after your flight, I know some Asian countries are very strict with this.
YES!
I also like to add marrow in soup or stew, it adds an extra depth to the dish.
I just checked the price. 6.30€ for 1kg, meaning for 3 pieces like shown above (460g), the package was 2.90€.
Striper fishing has been hot the past few weeks but, unfortunately, Mr Bean hasn’t been able to go fishing. Luckily we have plenty frozen from earlier in the season. I went with old-school comfort food. A mixture of mayo and parmesan cheese was slathered on the some nice-sized fillets then broiled until golden brown. Served with roasted Romanesco broccoli.
