What's for Dinner #64 - This Year's Almost Over, Thank Goodness! Edition - December 2020

That omelet is stunning…

here’s my only attempt at it, 3 years ago.

I’ve seen the word “omelet” several times lately. It’s still odd.

Piglet: a little pig
Côtelette: a small piece (not a roast, I guess) from the rib area
Rivulet: a small river, stream

Omelet: a small ome?

Maybe it was originally Hommelette because someone saw a tiny silhouette of Jesus. And maybe this Hommelette is why the Easter Bunny brings eggs.

Thank you!
I can say that after that many etymological twists and metathetical mitsakes, I’m not embarrassed that I never would have guessed it in a million years.

Yep, that is indeed the problem. I wish the grate had a hinge to allow one side to lift up & down.

Lovely. Is this the one who didn’t cook? Looks like things are improving in that department. :slightly_smiling_face:

No; she’s been a cook as long as I’ve known her. They lived on a farm in Turkey and she sold things she made like jams and hazelnut butter. My daughter is not a fan of cooking and she’s getting to skip her turn. Cooking for five seems exponentially different from cooking for two.

Looks good to me!

My recent college graduate son had an interview yesterday for a job in his hopeful career of choice, so I let him pick “What’s For Dinner”. His choice: Taco Tuesday :face_vomiting: :face_vomiting: :face_vomiting: (I don’t know what it is about taco’s but I can’t stand them. Any / all of the ingredients on their own I like, however combined for a taco, no thank you!! So anywho taco Tuesday it was!)

Seasoned chop meat, cilantro lime with tequila chicken as proteins. Sides: Spanish rice, beans and chorizo, pan fried peppers and onions and (frozen) jalapeño poppers.

What? You can’t read my mind?
I certainly miscommunication there. I started out on a different thread.

Nah, you didn’t. It was me. You wrote about your daughter on the Meal Kit thread a while back and about your son & DIL coming to visit recently on this thread… I think. I’m the one who mixed it up. :relaxed:

so awesome!

i especially loved that the theme song to Laverne & Shirley was playing in the background, especially in light of the recent demise of Squiggy… :grinning:

thanks for turning me on to Chef Motokichi! What a character.

as did i!

maybe it’s because @NotJrvedivici is using FLOUR tortillas instead of the proper CORN tortillas… :grinning:

I tried to make this edit and it was too late. The new grill also allows us to crank a handle and raise/lower the grill rack. Which the weber doesn’t do. So besides it is very complicated to add coals, but you also have no control over the proximity of food to fire. Except sideways I guess.

Haha… I had to adjust to that when I joined HO. But I like you can edit a lot within that hour without getting the little edit pencil. :slightly_smiling_face:

That adjustable crank handle is a great feature. I have an Argentinean friend (great bbq-er) who built his own grill with adjustable racks… they also sway & pivot! I really need to get something newer, because I’d use it much more!

Good luck to your son.
