What's for Dinner #64 - This Year's Almost Over, Thank Goodness! Edition - December 2020

Welcome back @Rooster! We’ve missed you!

Glad you had a good trip, and that you are safe and healthy.

It is so true about grief. Ugh. What a ride.

Hope you have a good holiday too. I’m looking forward to 2021!

Just some deep fried calamari … a once in awhile favorite …

Thank you HO friends! Good to be home. Spent time with families and friends all coping with loss. The band played on as the saying goes. I lost 10 lbs.

Now its time for reflection and good eats. My wife is off the rest of Dec. Need to shop for the holidays this week. Thinking buffet of small bites and booze.

I missed you all.

Boudin sausages from Cochon Butcher, from our NYE NOLA trip last year! Steamed them, avoided the bursting problem we had last time. BF made a green salad with bacon and blue cheese, and two kinds of potato salad (“regular” and with kalamata olives and other stuff.) Super good, but super filling - one sausage each was plenty. more for later.

Tacos! Conchinita pibil and cauliflower.

Sort of like this but no beans. No crema either but I added a squirt of sour cream and a squirt of lime juice.

American style tacos again, only with beyond fake meat for meatless Monday. I used those new fangled taco shells with the flat bottoms.

I guess there are people who don’t even like the idea of hard tacos, but to me if you’re going to have hard tacos the flat-bottomed ones are hard to argue against. If anyone prefers to serve them so they’re lying down instead of standing, they still can. They do probably still remind people of the advertising, but hey, there aren’t that many new food innovations (even minor ones) that are 100% beneficial with no drawbacks, and I think this might be one.

Lookin good flat bottomed or not. Think of it as a taco salute.

Love the hard shell . Not to be eaten when leaning back in a recliner with your feet up . Or maybe.

Probably in a mess hall… not in a tidiness hall.

Braised Chicken with tomatoes, mushrooms, marsala and thyme. Served with polenta. Simple but good.

What brand polenta do you buy @MsBean?
